Question for Novice

Hisa,

Since you are giving out useful information on the pacland thread, perhaps you could answer a question or two about Donpachi. The gamest record is over 59,000,000 points. The record score for the A type ship scores over 27,000,000 points on the first loop. How is this possible? There is a 20,000,000 replay of the first loop on marp using the type C ship. Doing combos with the A ship seems much harder than with the C ship. Are there any tricks for getting such a high score? Are there any replays out there of someone finishing the game on one credit? I have heard that there is a 50,000,000 point replay video. Do you have any idea where I could purchase a copy or download it?

Thanks.

I would like to know why that guy quits after playing the first loop? Maybe the game is too easy for him? :)

How long would one loop take?

Some of us don't want to play a game for too long.

Completing the first loop takes around 25 minutes.

Haha no way. I will never be that good. Maybe with months of practice i would be able to beat one loop, but the second loop? Not a chance! My reflexes are just not that good :(

I love the game though, and it sure would be great to see someone finish the second loop too hehe

What is your best score Hisa? I´m sure that you can do it!

Did it get zeroed?...deleted?

Does anyone remember what version of mame was used? The inp may still be in MARP files, but I need the exact filename.

I wouldn't say you are bad at the game either. You clear the first six levels on your first man. Since you only used 2 bombs before clearing stage 6, you also scored 5,000,000 bonus points at the end of that round. You then let all your men die on stage 7.

I really liked watching that replay. I also think you could finish the game on one credit. I know many people would like to watch a replay where someone finishes the game on one credit. Perhaps you can make one for us? :D

why must everyone always give up on the second loop? It's kind of sad that I have the recording that gets the farthest (2-4), but with less points and a lower level of quality in the play (lots of bombs used).

Could it be some sort of weird perfectionist thing?

They'd rather quit while they're still perfect than be seen getting killed by the harder part to come?

could be.

But I always thought the "Do your best" mentality was such a popular belief in Japan... and giving up like that sure isn't a good way to show you tried your hardest.

*shrug*

The comments when I upload it.

"Just a junk. only to show HOW TO PLAY. not more.
playable after 2-2"

haha. very stupid comment I also admit.
only 17.7M at loop 1. no one can understand "how to play".
