buttermakers latest attempts don't appear to playback, the one above playsback to 5-8, with or with sound/nvram. Timmikins other mame56 offereing playsback fine.

I'm always using record.bat so it can't be NVRAM.

Windows XP, MAME .62 CLI, sound on.

I tested them all before uploading.

Edit: I just tested rimrck12 and 16 on another comp. Works there too.

I tried with mame, dmame and mame32 and none of them will work for me. Using win98 se.

With dos the first 3 point shot hits the basket, and then i get nuts from there.

With mame and mame32 the 3 point shot misses and the game goes nuts after the score is 2-2.

hmmmm, can you post mame.cfg.zip mame.ini.zip and other options you might be using?

Plays back fine to me. Yet another case of OS differences. Mame62 CLI on XP with sound on does the trick.

Confirmed.

Mame.cfg is for DOS. I'm using the Win32 CLI version. The only parameters in my .ini file that are changed from the defaults are rompath, hwstretch and ctrlr.

I'm not using any other options. I'm starting the games with "record.bat romname".

unfarting believeable, this is not a 98/xp thing since i coudln't get it to playback in either. But i think i found it. Ok all you believers that playing back inps has nothing to do with settings: [Kfx] try playing it back with the line:

ctrlr hotrodse

set in the mame.ini file using cli mame. It works for me with that (or "hotrod") set as the cntrlr and doesn't work with out it (or doesn't work with it #commented out or with ctrlr set to "joy"). I usually use -cntrl to record only otherwise this would have worked just fine with my hotrodse set as the default option. I'm assuming Abbe has a similar cntrlr setting (maybe not hotrod) but it's proly not blank in his ini.

Nothing to do with playbackability, I know, but shouldn't we apply sports scoring system to this one ?

100(win) or 50 (tie) + points difference

I haven't seen or played the game, but judging by the scores already uploaded, it's only a one match game or time limited. With only one match (or part of a match) I don't see much point in using that scoring method.

Sorry to disappoint you, Chad, but my ctrlr line is commented out. I compared Buttermaker's ini file to mine, but couldn't find any interesting similarities. I attach my file too for you to examine.

By the way, after further testing all the clones play back nicely with or without cfg files, nvram files, sound, frameskip or throttle. It's really hard to screw up playback here.

Well, I have tried every single way to get them to playback.. but I have failed. I talked with Buttermaker on irc and it seems like we had the same os, mame default settings etc.

Still no luck.. is there any other factor out there maybe?

It's not even a whole quarter.

yep a "quarter" will get you one half of a quarter.

nope abbe, can't get it to playback with your mame.ini. I still CAN get it to playback with buttermakers ini or my ini with a hotrodse cntrlr, but if i comment that out it doesn't work. So Abbe, can i ask: do you hve a hotrod hooked up? and KFX does this work for you or no? qrs, have you tried both Abbes and Buttermakers ini files?

I really wished I could say I had a hotrod, but no I don't. Maybe you need to set cntrlr to whatever controller you've got plugged in when you play back the game. (Which would be nothing for me and hotrodse for Buttermaker and QRS. Don't know about you, Chad.) Sounds really weird though.
