Vote continuing, and the candidates are clear :)

Post by gameboy9 »

OK, here's what happened. Skito has on the forum removed his name from the ballot. Barry and JD are still in the hunt - either one has indicated on IRC that they wouldn't mind letting the other do it... but they said they would do it. Anybody wishing for proof may email or reply to this board post.

So - the vote will continue with just Barry Rodewald and J.D. Lowe as the candidates.

To recap, in order to vote, you must follow the general election guidelines:

1. You must have been a member since January 1, 2002
2. You must have submitted a recording for at least 1% of the total MAME games (34)
3. You must have submitted a recording in the months in April and May.

So now what say ye? All votes will be submitted to gameboy9@marpirc.net - you must email from your MARP claimed address. (the @ link next to your player name in the score recap) I'm still hereby sworn to secrecy, and all that stuff.

This vote will expire on June 7, 2002 at 2359 GMT. THERE WILL BE NO EXTENSION - TWO PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY VOTED! (though, to be fair, you can overrule me with a 2/3 vote of the general public thanks to the MARP procedure guidelines.)

Note that I was also candidate as I told Gameboy, Pat and Zwaxy in private email ... where my candidature has gone ???

Very strange to see editors selecting candidate who doesn't want the job and rejecting other one who is volunteer ; maybe my english is not very good to do this job, but shouldn't voting people decide that ?

Well Phil, I felt that the editors should nominate an important position like this one. This position, as far as I'm concerned, is more important than a coordinator and even an editor - which is why I came to that decision - and based off the decision, that's who the candidates wound up to be.

However, in fairness, I will tell you that, according to the MARP procedures, you as a member have the right to call a 3-day vote to overrule the editors - you'll need a 2/3 vote of the general public to do such a thing. Should we be overruled, then I WILL extend the vote three days. Would you like to do that? It's up to you. :)

Of course NO !! I have nothing against editors, or against someone in particular ; I just had a few ideas for the page maintining, I was wondering if I could participate to that (as noone is actually replacing you)

If you think I can't be candidate, that's ok for me ; I'm sure both Barry or JD will do a good job

I'd like the two candidates to be in the chat room by 2359 GMT tonight - I will reveal the results right after the vote concludes. Then I can discuss the significant amount of business that comes with it. :)

I'll try to be there by then. Hopefully I won't be too busy at work today. I shouldn't be too far off though.
