MAME v35b9 frame rate

Is this a common problem with beta 9 or is this just some
problem with my machine? Many games used to run
fine with beta 2, but when I run them with beta 9,
the frame rate becomes untolerably slow (around 5).

I've figured out what was happening. It was auto frameskip
working. In earlier versions, the default wasn't "auto",
and the game slowed down instead of skipping lots of frames.
