ok here it is i go to the cube site download the win version of mame for this knockout comp and it tells me i'm missing audiow32.dll: some numbers great although i do have the audiow32.dll.

the dos version i can't get to work period. when i download from marps page and then run nothing happens at all and it tells me program not responding please someone help.

The easiest way to deal with this is download the full version of
winmame35 and install it. Now you have a working version of the
standard winmame35. Download the winmame35tg file which is one exe
file. Put it in the same directory as the original exe file. Run
winmame35tg.exe

All the files for the two programs are the same, except for the exe
file.

I suggest trying to download MAME 35 final (http://www.emuviews.com I
believe has this) and MAME32 35 final(same site) - that should make
sure you have the neccessary files.
