Getting Into IRC Chat With The Mirc Client

Well I managed to get into it for the first time (yesterday) but I'm buggered if I can get into it again. I was hoping to make it for the MARP quiz.

Yesterday I installed mirc (again), and just let the program choose a server for me. I clicked 'Get List' to view all the channels and joined marp. There were actually people in there whereas before it has always been empty (which I was told could have been due to a netsplit).

But today I can't get in! Mostly I got a message saying I needed to run 'identd' which I searched for with google and duly ran but still no joy. Even if a server does eventually connect me and I join #marp, it's always empty! I'll probably try again another time and it'll work.
