shouldn't tpgolf be splitted ?

As pole position and his clones are splitted in 4 courses , I think tpgolf should be splitted in 2 courses ; I know it's an interested proposal but it also sounds logical to me

Don't know Phil, but to sidestep a little off subject, wouldn't it
finally be time to split Paperboy to 3 games: ES, MR and HW. At the
moment the scores are combined 3 credit ones(how about that
then "QT")........ One game takes too long time for anyone to get
interested in this veery amusing classic title.

In my opinion difficulty is too easy, but it doesn't matter if it's
same for everyone. What comes to compatibility with TG scores is no
prob, since it seems that there's only one score in TG-database,
which is total bulls(easy street 1 000 000), and...were at MARP now...

Paperboy is actually one of the games that was discussed in the great
TG debate earlier this year. Basically, what was decided was that it
was up to the top players on a game whether they wanted to change
settings to more difficult or TG for their game of expertise, as
several players protested about any possible de-marthonization at
MARP. If players want paperboy to be split into three courses instead
of grand slam style, then that's up to them. As for multiple credits,
it's only because multiple games are being played--something that
(agreed, Tommi) doesn't really fit in at MARP.

In short, I'd be more than happy to make this change, but I'm sick of
being flamed for stepping on people's toes. As for pc_10, I would like
to thank all MARPers for being patient while the dips are identified
for the system. As I stated earlier, if the dips do not resolve the
problem then we will proceed to vote.

As for tpgolf, there's some debate as to where this falls in the
splitting debate (issue was first raised with NeoTurfMasters). Whereas
Pole Position 2, Cameltry, and Pipe Dream all seem fairly intuitive as
to splitting, I'm not sure that the golf games fit the mold. I'm not
sure that the split is warranted, but I won't say that it isn't
either. However, there is some debate already as to whether split
games with no scoreboard for the split level should be removed (this
would count ones like magdrop3-cme and cameltry-be, among others) and
golf games might be considered to fall under the same category.

Feel free to comment, and please try to be objective.

Pole Position 2 has different tracks. Top Player's Golf has different
courses. I'm not sure what isn't intuitive about splitting. I'll vote
yes (as being #3 on it right now -- I do plan to practice again
sometime, though).

I asked Donut and Angry about Paperboy. Donut and I agree that it
should be splitted. Didn't get any reply from Angry--well hes last
submitted inp is dated 19th April 99...

So that should cover top players views, other three scores are mildly
put a bit on the small side.

We can leave difficulty as it is now (10 000 extra, easy).

It should be safe to split it now...

Thanks

I agree . Paperboy into 3 sections. I was good at this game in
arcades, but can`t for the life of me , figure out a way to play
this using current controls. ( any tips Tommi ? )

Oh , the same goes for tpgolf , i.e split

p.s if Paperboy is split into 3 , well then you`re gonna have to ban
use of the 'Grandstand Trick '( i.e passing the line thru the gap ).
We all know what happens on Easy Street, but on Hard Street , when you
go through the gap, when the next 'extra' course comes onto the
screen ,simply go extreme left and crash into the kerb. Usually gives
you @60-65k each time. I don`t know anything for Middle Street.

Oh, and there's also the ' Lawnmower Trick ' which would also need to
be banned.

Alex,

I think I used older mame versions for recording, can't remember if
it was cause of speed or because joystick worked better with 34final.

I used gravis analog pro joystick, which doesn't work for me
now...have to get new souncard drivers for win98.

I did have a special trick though, often before a game I configured
my joystick inside mame(tab settings at mame). I also found that if I
rolled my joystick round slowly several times before a game, control
seemed to work better!!!...Might have been my imagination though.
Sometimes controls were good, sometimes not?

Your hotrod doesn't work at PprB? Maybe Gravis anlg pr. has 16
directions instead of 8, or something like that?

I used dosmame with arcadeathome frontend, win95.

GB9,QT,

I'm in a limbo or? as nothing I suggest seems to be done? At least
with a schedule...

yeps, Tommi

P.S. Lawnmover trick? Have heard that before, but same head all year
long...
