I tried doing something that I cleared with some folks in #marp last night, involving removing some RAM so that it can cache it better, and hopefully run it smoother. Well, I don't know what I did, but it won't boot up! I turn it on, it barely goes through the checkup process (I can tell the CD-ROM is activated, as usual), but the monitor doesn't change (stays black, I mean), and there are no beeps to indicate that it works properly. In fact, on random occasions, it would just start beeping like crazy (and no, I don't have anything on the keyboard ).

Guys, I REALLY need your help, if you specialize in software or hardware, or even if you've retired from MARP; I could really use the help. Please take this seriously, too, cuz if I can't get this fixed, then I can't play in t5, or koa, or even participate in MARP (still working on putting MAME on the computers here at DeVry ).

Pentium MMX 200Mhz with 128Mb of RAM; that's all of the hardware I
can think of right now.

Well, I turned off the computer, I flipped the case on it's side, and
I went to try to pull out the RAM. I touched something metal before
I did, so I could get rid of the static, and I tried to keep myself
grounded. I tried to pull the RAM out, but I couldn't; those little
switches are tough to use So, I made sure the connections were in
perfect, I turned it on, and nothing. The CD-ROM looked like it was
being checked, but that's probably just what happens when it first
turns on. No activity on the monitor, and at the beginning, the Num
Lock, Caps Lock, and Scroll Lock flash once quickly. One time, I
tried an experiment, and I just let it sit there. It started beeping
constantly, and didn't stop. Any suggestions?

Before you suggest anything, though, a friend of mine mentioned that
I might have to just readjust the RAM and how it's sitting; sound
good to you guys?

P.S. If you don't hear anything after this message, then it means

Two things, one repositioning RAM chips may help, but I would want to
go back to point one, place everything back exactly where it was. And
here, I DO mean everything.
If the computer doesn't boot here, let me know the number of beeps,
(pattern 1-3-1 or whatever it does)

I haven't had the chance to get home yet, so I don't know yet.
However, I can barely remember some of the stuff that happened last
night, including no pattern; it was 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-infinity

Thanks for the help anyway; I have about 30-45 minutes until I leave
college, so if you get a message after this, and it's not in the 30-
45 minute range, then I got it to work. In the meantime, EVERYONE
throw in their opinion, because I could use it

*starts doing "The Happy Dance" made famous by BASEketball* WOOHOO!
Since I had the problems with RAM, I decided to just take the RAM
out, and reverse the order that it was put in (just to be absolutely
certain). I made sure all the connections were good, and viola! I'm
still at 128Mb of RAM, so I'll try to fix that next
