What you do, is edit msdos.c of the mame source.at about line 200 you
will find a line about playback, before that line you need to add
override_path=0;
That variable was added in Mame 0.37 beta 6, and needed to be
initialized, the playback routine lackes that, thus causing mame not
to find the roms.
Hope this helps.

If we can get a compiled version of this fix - please email it to
myself and I'll post it on the MARP. As far as I see it - if it
works - then let's use it! GB9

I disagree. Wait until MAMEdev releases a new or fixed version. Either
that, or someone is going to have to e-mail every new player that
comes to MARP during the beta 6 cycle about the new version, why the
old one doesn't work, etc.

I'm sure we can all lay off our traidtional beta rush for once.

yeah, who knows what Else is broken in the playback of other games or
other recordings of pc-smb if this particular recording playsback.
The dev team obviously didn't test the playback ability so there's
probably something else that's wrong besides one variable
initialization missing. having patience for a couple more weeks to
save later woes seems like a much needed trade off for not being able
to record new games right now.

Actually, the newest EMUPLUS (b6 compile) plays back fine, even with
recordings made with normal MAME.

If you want I'll test on some more games to make sure.

EMU+ is at:

http://arcadeathome.efront.com/emuplus/

Note that you can just use it for playback, you don't have to use it
for record. There might be some games with tricky timing, so if you
use it on a particular game you should test it first.

What a surprise it was deleted... Not !
Enough about that, i am pretty sure that nobody checked the recording
with a fixed bianry, but will be the first to admit it if i am wrong.
Chad, i dont think you know this bug very well, this is not a bug in
the recording or playback, but when you initiate a playback it looks
for the roms in the wrong place, thus cant find them, recording and
playback is just as good as in b5.

Last time I checked, there were over 2000 games in MAME. Don't tell me
there is nothing else to play but the games in b6.

Last time I checked, all Stig's scores had been removed from MARP at
HIS OWN request. All of a sudden, he needs to have a b6 recording up
there? At least he succeeded in getting attention. Once more.

We already are burdened with an awful lot of versions of MAME and
different platforms and lots of incompatibilities. Why make it even
worse?

There will be a LOT of people who don't realise that (if b6 recordings
were allowed), they'd need a special, non-official version, of MAME to
play it back. Again, an unnecessary burden. And lots of unnecessary
postings and e-mails.

Are you guys going to die if you can't submit on any of the b6 games
right now? Jeez, lighten up. Be a little patient. In a few weeks, b7
will most probably have been released and then, all this will have
become unimportant. Meanwhile, you can still PLAY games on b6 and
practise, so that when b7 is released, all you have to do is record.
(As if I even cared that people "have to" catch up.) Jeez, spend some
time on making quality recordings instead. Do you really think that
anybody is going to watch the hundreds of recordings some people
upload where they played the games only once?

My opinion: Just wait until b7, and don't upload any b6 recordings.

Cheers,
Ben Jos.

What a surprise, Stig...Not! You didn't read the news board. If you
did you might have seen this:

URGENT: Please do not record and submit .inp files created with MAME
v.37b6. A problem has been identified with the source code which has
broken the -record and -playback features. All games recorded with
MAME v.37b6 will be immediately deleted by an Editor if posted.
Updates will follow on this situation.

What a surprise, Stig...NOT! You didn't even read your own score
description. If you had, you might have seen this:

[claimed 554650. This score is frozen until a ruling decision] {QCN}

The score has not been deleted or removed in any way. In case you
hadn't noticed, you're even still pulling a first on it. I merely
froze the score at zero, because, for some reason, everybody else at
MARP read the message about not uploading games for m37b6, except
you. By all rights and my own message, your score SHOULD have been
auto-deleted.

What a surprise indeed.

I agree with BenJos - PLEASE, let's wait for m37b7 before uploading
recordings for games added in m37b6. There are plenty of games to
play, just do without the newest games added for a few weeks. You guys
will live.

As for the "beta rush"... well I guess that'll give the players who
upload recordings purely for the sake of being the first (you know who
you are), more games to take advantage of when m37b7 rolls around.
Please, let's just be patient.

something to aim at, while waiting next beta...

In fact i agree, with you guys after thinking it all over, having
another mame version that almost none will know of is not a good
idea, so please just delete the file. No problem we can wait until
b7, lets just hope Nicola has fixed the bug bt then.

I had no intention of getting attention by this recording BenJos, its
just one of my all time favorites, and with a pad i can finish the
game quiet easily.
