Wow... who in the heck made these settings for TG in Dig Dug? 10 K for an extra life, 40 K for extras thereafter. I wonder whoever made these settings that this person was asking for Marathon City, USA?

I move that we use default settings only - 20K, 60K, and that's it. It makes for a more exciting competition instead of these marathons we're seeing(although I believe it stops feeding extras at 1 million, similar to galaga - which is still I think 27 lives compared to the setting I mentioned's 5.). Also makes a confirmer's life easier too. GB9

I dunno! Ask somebody from TG about Digdug setting? I think is
anything possible to rack up 1 million pts on Digdug on default
setting (20k & 60k only on easy setting (I think!))! I don't mind
re-record the inp on default setting! But it's up to Mark L. and Steve
K. or other MARPER who want to vote on TG setting or not! Possibly we
can vote on Digdug setting to (20k & 60k, Harder setting or something
like that!)

Hmm I4m no an expert on the game Dig Dug, but i Know that the game
is so hard in the later levels, that there are only a few (correct me
if I4m wrong folks) that have managed to reach stage 255 on that
game..wich i think is the kill screan. (correct me again please)

I understand that Dig Dug takes time to watch (at least when you
going for the WR and start eating the dirt on every level!) but I
don4t think there are to many extras in the game.. atleast not for a
normal player

Getting to the end of Dig Dug isn't easy. I've never done it.
(I would have done it by now, except my dig dug machine has very
sticky buttons. Oh well)

I would suggest having TG (as we do now) and a 5 men... 3 guys to
start, one at 10,000, one at 60,000 (which is mame default I think).
So have two categories for Dig Dug, but axe all the identical clones!

Dig Dug has a kill screen at 255. And the guy who got the new WR
last year didn't get to the end! He only got to round 248.

Ok, I suppose I could contribute some info to this subject as I'm
sure Mark will aventually too. The true TG settings which was
mentioned by Gameboy9 should be the ones to use. Only because if a
player were to have a really good game and wanted to get recognition
through TG (i.e. book, web page database) for their accomplishment
these are the settings they would have to play on. Otherwise, the
skies the limit. Perhaps after disscussing with Mark and Walter, we
could come up with a resonable "tournament" setting for this game to
help cut down on play time. Other then Mark, myself and maybe
another player or two, were the only ones that can play for over an
hour a game. I believe Marks top game lasted him around the 2 hour
mark. That's still not classed as a marathon game. Another thing to
take into consideration is that this game gets incredibly harder as
you get higher in the stages and the only one person to reach the
peak of the harder stages was Mark and even know he got through it,
he still never reached the kill screen (256) but managed a phenominal
game by far. I will try tonight and break my 'NEW' record which I
got last Friday night of 1,790,830 (stage 115) hopfully breaking the
2M mark and will keep track of the time it takes me to play it.

Bleh. I did some background research on this ery topic a few months
ago.

While I'm totally opposed to what Krogman says, I don't think we need
to worry about settings changes until someone actually makes the kill
screen. Anyways, Mark is one of the top players on this game at MARP,
so I'm interested in his call on the settings. I certainly won't
support throwing out all the clones either though, Mark, as that's
kind of completely in the face of how MARP works.

I think, like QRS hints in his post, that this whole thread is kind
of a non-issue.

On a related note, I'm tabulating the results from the TG thread and
will post SUGGESTED settings changes this weekend. I'm sure we'll
have a healthy debate about that.
