what about settings on arkatayt?

In the attempt to get another 1st place score, I had a go at beating lagavulin's arkatayt recording. I noticed that he uses 3 lives, but that the default setting is only 2 lives. I then noticed that the default setting used to be 3 lives. The available dip switch settings are for 3 or 5 lives, but they actually give you 2 or 3 lives...

Question 1: what do we do about this? Should I use an old version of MAME if I want to use 3 lives?

Question 2: how do I go about reporting this bug in MAME to the development team so it can be fixed in future releases?

Chris.

The only way i know of reporting a bug is to submit it to the bug
board somewhere beneath

http://www.mameworld.net/mametesters/

Which is the mame test page. Of course anything i submit gets looked
at but never replied to...

Well I believe we agreed that you can use an earlier version if the
default settings granted more lives.

For example, in the game 005 - it used to be 4 lives to start, now
it's 3 lives. The top score uses 4 lives, but since anyone could use
any mame(but it's requested that you use finals when you can.) - I
believe I let that go. Now of course that's my opinion on things...

Thanks for reading.

Actually, gb9, I thought it was the other way 'round. I thought we
lowered the previous scores to what they finished with at the end of
two lives, if that is indeed the proper default setting. Seems
confusing anyway, if the dip switches aren't reading correctly.

I see Chad beat me on the MAME Testers address. It's really a great
site; Zsolt Vasvari has contacted me personally over a number of
reported glitches. Best site that I know of to give feedback to the
MAME team.

Cheers,

finals week when he has time to buy a hub)

The correct settings for this game according to TG is 3 men and I
wasn't aware of a ver. of mame that would give you 2 men as default.
I always like to use the finals as they are much better then the
betas. Has everyone been uploading scores using the 3 men setting
with extras awarded at 60k and every 60k thereafter?
