Am I wrong?

I just downloaded the MARP #1 hiscore-inp for upndown:
db_upndown_102590_m35b12.zip containing UP.zip...

I used mame35b12 and arcadeathome0.36d with "draw every frame" on, and when I play back the .inp-file he/she started out with 5 lives and not the default 3...

cheating? or did I miss something?

Perhaps Game Guru is not cheating, it might be that the mame m35b12
defaults are 5 lives. Usually it is acceptable to upload settings
that the previous uploaders had set. Do the other recordings have 3
or 5 lives besides Game Guru's?
