Mouse Problems with MAME32

Post by Q.T.Quazar »

Is anyone else having difficulty with their mouse in MAME32? My problems started somewhere around beta 8 or 9 of this release cycle, I think. Mouse control works fine, but left- and right-clicking has absolutely no effect on any games. I was hoping to improve my Zektor and Discs of Tron scores over the holidays, but I can't figure out what's wrong. Am I missing something really obvious, or is this broken code in the source? Any suggestions would be welcome.

One more thing, and I'd like to hear what the policymakers and veterans at MARP think about this. Isn't it about time we required certain games to be played at TG settings? Certain scores (and I'm thinking of BombJack most recently, looking at three of the new highs in the last month) are starting to turn into pattern/patience games, like Pac-Man, because they're too easy at defaults. Cracking 500K on Bombjack in T1 was tough work; breaking 1 mil meant you were a damn skilled player.

Just curious what the general opinion is on this. (Come to think of it, I probably should have postedthese two items seperately, becuase nobody's going to answer my mouse question now. :( Oh well.)

what mouse question? :)

i'm not a policy maker or veteran, but i think the new tg mame
leaderboard can handle this. Another reason to keep separate totals
is that any joe off the street can record at default mame settings
and submit a recording to regular marp with out much fear of submiting
the wrong way (there are a few exceptions but for the most part it'll
work with out a ruccus.) And if they delve further and get more
serious about competing and less serious about getting points at any
cost, they'll look and see there's another leader board with stricter
rules and another executable to record with...

and you got me with the mouse, i even tried dos mame mame and the
buttons don't work but the roller works fine.
