Can't we all just let this thread die in peace? It's like
the moebius strip from philosophical hell. If someone wants to post a
lame recording, let them. The recordings do not cause a problem with
space because they are tiny, period. They also provide new players
with a tangible rank, and let them introduce themselves to the
community at MARP. Not all of us are going to post 10 mil at Bubble
Bobble right upon arrival. Just let these recordings be... and if
there's ever a problem with space or script overflow, I'm sure Zwaxy
will let us know. If the player's score isn't good enough to send me
an automatic e-mail, then I really don't care about it. And I get
around 30 score e-mails a day, often for scores that I posted which I
thought were good. Like Dave implied, one man's trash is another man's
treasure. And for those who argue that this is a PLAYBACK site, well,
this way, it at least gives those weaker players somewhere reliable to
store their .inps, and maybe even pick up a few tips from the pros on
their playing style. I'm sure that if those of you who do not like
having to WATCH these INNUMERABLE recordings actually took the time to
e-mail the players concerned and provide helpful hints as to how to
improve on a score like 650 on Space Invaders, certain players posting
these scores might hesitate a little before posting "sub-par"
recordings.
<p>
Now, why don't we focus our energy toward setting up a tournament that
everyone wants to play in? I sure as hell won't be joining this one,
so I think I'll go back to trying to learn Mahjongg on the NeoGeo.
