Tourney 2 - Several new rule ideas
Posted: Fri Oct 01, 1999 12:30 pm
This unfortunate ending that I had to take with the first tournament should never happen again... therefore I propose this rule:
<p>
1) If the server crashes, then I think we should EMAIL zips to the Judge Coordinator to show that the recording was done before the deadline. Afterwards, they can upload those files to the server.
<p>
2) Back to the fun part... should we make a concreate "type of game" rule something like this: No more than two games of any type(i.e. racing, maze, collect em', fighting, etc.), in addition, no game that is of the same type and is a DIRECT relative of another(i.e. mspacman being a relative of pacman) should be submitted into the tournament. Most points out of those gets in. Most points of the two game/type rule would be in.
<p>
Or should we have no type rule at all? Or is the rule we have in place OK as it stands?
<p>
------------------------------
<p>
I will use new voting rules for these - since most of us are programmers, we'll use these conditions in this format:
<p>
IF (((Vote Ending == (8-0) or (8-1)) OR (Majority of votes, winning by two after ten votes)) AND (days to vote >= 5)) OR ((Days to vote >= 10 AND winner has more than a two vote victory) OR (Date >=10/28/99, majority wins regardless)) THEN the motion is passed/rejected
<p>
Confusing huh? Basically, it's the banned techniques rules of the MARP, forcing a minimum of 5 days, and a maximum of ten days. Regardless, a vote must win by two votes, unless 10/28/99 comes around, then simple majority. The Main/Judge coordinators will determine a compromise if it's still tied.
<p>
I know... be quiet Gameboy! Alright! Alright already!
Catch ya later.
