Speed-up cheat in pacman games?

I know I have seen the question (and answer) somewhere before but I can't remember. How do I enable the speed-up cheat in games like ppacman, mspacman, etc.

OK, what you should do is activate the cheats in mame(you can do that
via the mame.cfg file, or add -cheat to the command line). You'll
find the cheat to speed up in the DIP SETTINGS feature in the menu. I
believe you can also hold the ctrl key to speed up on a temporary
basis.
