Ask privately to an editor like Gameboy9 or Skito about it.

I used to be an editor here... but I retired from that position many years ago.

But... if you want confirmation rights on HARP... I'm your man! :)

Peeking at the spanish forum's T11 topic, I think it was el_fumador who had a point. (now I did use Google translator, so if I misunderstood the conversation... my bad) With each tournament in the past, each game had a judge assigned to that game so the tourney coordinator's job was made a little bit easier.

So, Potante, if you'd like to take that route, if Lode Runner, Vs. Pinball, or Outrun are selected, I'll volunteer to judge those games if you want one.

Additionally, if you don't mind an opinion about Lode Runner, if this gets selected, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a tie at 999,999 points during the tournament. If this happens, I suggest a tie-breaker of whoever gets 999,999 points first gets the higher position.

Just a couple of thoughts. Thanks!

I have thought that besides me any MARP confirmer could validate/judge the games and whatever marper could report his opinions too, instead of one judge for each game. Thus, there would be more potential judges and it would result easier.

I request an editor to be confirmer to validate games of the tournament.

... or maybe just score the game as most levels reached in less possible time, iirc you don't need to finish the game in order to counter stop the game, right?

Something like this? Seems to only occur when the difficulty is set to normal (default is easy)...

Ive tested it on both Normal and Easy on contra.zip, contraj.zip and contra1.zip. All of them freeze if you beat the boss on your first man. Sometimes they dont for some reason? But I wouldn't recommend it for tournament play as it's frustrating not knowing if the game will freeze or not.

I will think about my new submission and post it later today

I hate to go way back in the past... but... way back in the past... January 2004 to be precise, we played Contra as a test round in the first MARP time trials. Nobody complained about Contra crashing then. They used WolfMAME 78, which was the once accepted version to use... uh... way back in the past. :)

So maybe we can play, just using WolfMAME 78 as an allowable version.

The problem with Contra from memory is that the score doesn't advance until you stop firing. You need to allow the score to "catch up" before you end a stage or it will more than likely freeze. Not sure about on default settings but it happens a lot on TG settings (medium). The game CAN be finished but it's a major pain in the arse. From what I've been told this doesn't happen on the arcade machine but I don't have access to one.

The only way I have found to *sometimes* move on to the Ice-stage, is by only shooting one shot onto the screen at a time, when the last head is close to dying (and even slower to assure that the points will be counted up!) and take caution to NOT fire again after the final shot to the last boss head..!

Have also destroyed both heads simul., granting me a pass!(?)

(All done on the first life with Normal and 50k Only, using wolf106 & 141)

Contra freezing bug has been fixed in MAME now - apparently it was running on a 6809 as the main CPU instead of a 6309...
