Lunar Rescue sound...

Hi guys,

I can't get Lunar Rescue (lrescue) to playback any sound, no matter what MAME version i use...
Anyone have similar problems, or any ideas on how to activate the sound using samples or something?? I'm not too technical so plz use small-ish words lol. :roll:

Create a sub-folder called "samples" in your MAME directory, and place this file there:
http://www.mameworld.net/samples/wav/lrescue.zip

Yes thx TJT, but i already tried that a few months ago and it didnt work, kept saying "files (1.wav - 9.wav) not found". But i just got done fiddling with it again (for about 2 hrs lol), and i had an idea to create subfolder lrescue under samples, unzip the lrescue.zip file (files have different names than what the rom asks for, namely alienexplosion.wav, beamgun.wav, etc), and rename the 9 files to match 1.wav - 9.wav... and holy crap it worked!

Only problem was i didn't know which file should be named 1.wav and which one should be 2.wav... so thru trial & error i almost got all the sounds to match the game. Only a few weird sounds now: when my rescue ship is descending, it has the sound of the fireball lol, and when i get 500 bonus for rescuing all 6 dudes, it does some weird beeping, can't get it to work properly no matter which files i switch :(

Well i'm glad that i got the sound to work eventually...
But 8.wav, the sound-file for the fireball/meteor, is apparently also used for the lunar lander's descent, which sounds annoying! Anyone know how to get around this besides deleting it??
I kinda wanna keep the sound of the fireball so i know it's coming lol

I guess it's about finding the correct wavs. All I know is what maws says:

0.109u1: Robert correct samples being used in Lunar Rescue and clones. Changed SN76477 to Speaker sound and added samples (alienexplosion, rescueshipexplosion, beamgun, thrust, bonus2, bonus3.wav, shootingstar, stepl and steph.wav).

Aart uses wolf106, so he has to use the old sample, with old names.
Aart, maybe try with new sample (the one TJT pointed out), and version over 110 ?
maybe the thing that annoys you has been fixed ?

Phil - very good idea i should try a later version of WolfMame with newer samples, thankyou Phil! :wink:
