For those who are too dumb to learn the commandline... :)

Found these while wondering JVRM on usenet (don't ask why...)
WolfMAME32FX 0.108
http://rapidshare.de/files/30425263/Wol ... 8.zip.html
WolfMAME32 Plus 0.108
http://rapidshare.de/files/30683887/Wol ... _2.7z.html
Haven't tested these myself yet, so I only presume that they're binaries.
If you use one of these versions for an upload, you should mark it as either wolf108 or omame108 (whichever, I'm not too fussed), and mention in your description what you used, just in case of playback issues.

Hi
Is it possible to have the point of view of mahlemiut on using the wolf 32 mame plus 0.108 - build 3 ?
At jvrm, one of the older player ask to have your blessing to use this version
It is just to be sure that cheat or else couldn't be possible with the abrasion's version.
Thank you for your advices.

No issue here.
Just be sure that if you use it, you mention that you have done so in your upload description here (list the full version number, just to be safe), as according to zlk, inps aren't compatible back to wolf108.

If this is a French product, have they considered calling it LoupMAME, (or anything else) to avoid confusing it with Barry's work?
It sure will be confusing for the rest of us (and newcomers) if there are a bunch of WolfMAME's floating around unrelated to the original.

I'm not sure if I understand correctly...Are you saying that this "frenchmame" version 0.108 does not playback in wolfmame 0.108???
(Or are we just talking about like frontends to wolfmame)
If so, then we should not accept that one at MARP. I think most of us don't want to start downloding wolfmame 0.109 AND several other wolfmame derivatives each new version number. Not only that, but after some time you might not even find these strange new MAME derivatives anywhere.

The two "wolfmames" are incompatible with each other. You cannot playback wolfmame recordings with the French version and vice versa.

So it isn't actually Wolfmame then, it's just called the same?? I'm confused

Agree.

So be it. Those previously mentioned MAME versions are not allowed at MARP
Official Wolfmame is still the one to use here. You should have a very good reason not to use wolfmame, such as your operating system not supporting it. Being lazy enough for not to learn how to use DOS Prompt is not a good reason. Nobody here is so dumb that they can't learn. I'm sure you will get advice from DOS-sawwy marpers. Ask a question and feel stupid for 15 minutes, or don't ask and feel stupid for rest of your life...Or something along those lines as the saying goes.
(And Barry, please stop confusing us more. It's not like anyone can make their own mame and submit inps to marp with it.)

Don't correct !
Regular wolf 0.108 inp works with wolf32+ 0.108 (french version) and vice versa !
That's why i asked to test this version and to know if mahlemiut can officially approve this version.

I know how to make a recording in dos version but it's uncumfortable.

I think people are jumping the gun here. My understanding is that the Abrasion66's version of WolfMAMEPlus is being built by applying Barry's latest WolfMAME source diff to the MAMEPlus source code. This is EXACTLY what Barry proposed somebody else do when he dropped the GUI version of WolfMAME if they still wanted a GUI version. Any INPs produced this way should, at least in theory, be compatible with Barry's command line version of WolfMAME. I think those recordings should be acceptable on MARP with submissions saying WolfMAME .108 or omame .108, with a comment that Abrasion's WolfMAMEPlus version was used. Alternately a new option for WolfMAMEPlus instead of just WolfMAME could be added to the list of available choices. If the recordings don't play back for confirmers, the'll be zeroed as usual.
I believe sawys original question "Is it possible to have the point of view of mahlemiut on using the wolf 32 mame plus 0.108 - build 3" was referring to making a 108u3 version of WolfMAMEPlus. Since it was voted a while ago that "u" releases wouldn't be allowed on MARP, Abrasion66 could make one that could be used by other sites (e.g. jvrm, ArcadeHits), but it wouldn't be allowed for MARP submissions.
I thought MARP rules were still that any non "u" version of MAME can be used for submissions, not just WolfMAME. If the intent is to limit acceptable versions to a small list (or even just WolfMAME), I think that should involve wider and longer discussion and probably even a vote.

Of course anyone can. It's not really that difficult, especially with everything you need available at the official MAME website, along with instructions.
And George is right, a large part of the point of releasing the source, is so someone could produce a MAME32 or MAME Plus based binary for idiots to use.

Such hostility. I only prefer to use the 'gui', specifically the 'plus' version. I like the ease of use, graphic interface, 'goodies' and such without having to fiddle with the keyboard much(which is more in the way than not for me). I'd think not to accept scores from those versions would be worse than keeping scores from any of the very early versions of mame on marp. Getting convenient, updated versions of wolfmameplus is one of my my reasons for using the news page.
