Yeah, yeah, I know. The world record holder on this title is a frequent GEGOTW participant. I can't avoid games that Don Hayes holds the record on forever...at the rate he's going he may hold all of them eventually!

Sunday's bonus points to Don Hayes

Are those graphical anomalies in the bully sprite on levels 20 and 21 normal?

No time limit this week. Marathon away. Probably next week too.

Nope, but I have seen it happen on occasion on other levels.

Marathon?? Not likely...level 21 can easily kill off 5, 10, 15 or all of your free men, and it repeats every 6 boards.

Well, that's one reason I'm willing to forego the usual one-hour time limit.

Your MAME record submission at TG wasn't over an hour long?

I thought it wasn't over an hour, but looking at the inp file size it looks like it was just over an hour. The inp file is 2,673,780 bytes and I think I recorded it with AlphaMAME 69. Looking at the pattern of data in the inp, it looks like each frame is 23 bytes, and the game runs at 30 fps so that would mean the game took about 64 minutes.

But, I agree that a one-hour time limit likely won't be necessary.

oh i was looking at your marp submission, it looks like 33 minutes and 21 seconds to me, each frame is 124 bytes. 60032 frames @ 30 fps.

Just watched dbh's recording. Level 21 is nuts. 8O

I'm a little confused -- didn't the world record go past a million? If it doesn't record, how do you know what the score is?

I never said it didn't record past a million, just that I felt like stopping at the highest "displayable" score, meaning the highest that can be shown on the high score table :) I'll have to check what happens if two scores on the high score table match exactly...on some games, the new score goes above the old one (Millipede and Tron do this), but others the new score goes below (like Centipede and Dig Dug) so once the max score is there it can't be beaten unless the high score table is reset.

The score does roll over at 1M, but has one odd effect that I don't recall seeing on other games. When the score actually rolls, the game only updates the digits in the score that it thinks it needs to so the first few digits of player's score do not get cleared out or overwritten. This fixes itself when you go to a new screen as the whole screen is repainted.
