Donut's newsa doesn't playback for me properly. He only scores 5880 when I try to play it back. Maybe there is a playback problem with this game and clone?

i still get around 15500 with donut's, i did notice there is a rom that needs a redump which means it might be created differently for everyone.

the problem lies in the sound system.
the main game cpu can read the oki status register directly, afaik due to some odd design decisions in MAME (mainly to stop the sound skipping / cracking up) things like the OKI status end up depending very slightly on the host machine, thus causing sync problems in a number of games.
btw can you make sure WolfMAME remains ONLY on MARP? I've mentioned a few times that we're allowing the rules regarding source to be bent slightly as long as it doesn't travel outside of this site, yet I've seen a number of other sites posting every time there is a new release (emufrance for one)
also not allowing nvram at all is going to cause problems for games like skullfang which require either a default nvram, or a reset (which doesn't get recorded) to play.

??? i kind of wish we *were* bending the rules but we're not, the source is available on wofmame.marpirc.net do you mean some other rule besides releasing the source with the exe?

Hey, as long as they
are released.

To not be bending any rules you have to release the full unaltered source that compiles into the given .exe, and not rely on any external dlls, precompiled lib files or similar for extra features.

I have noticed that a couple of japanese replay sites (Zek's and Mog's) have started requiring WolfMAME for foreign players. As far as I know, neither offer a download of it (Mog's download page for MAME Plus binaries, last I remember, was down due to either lack of space or high bandwidth). These occured (presumably) due to a Chinese player submitting a Donpachi inp to Mog's that was obviously not legit.

I think this is "discrimination"

Why not to everyone, including they own japaneses?
Well... congratulations!
