So far I have yet to see the mainstream media report on the reason why the Muslim's are so angry. It isn't simply because someone has drawn a picture of the Prophet Mohammed with a bomb, it's the very fact that someone has drawn an image of Mohammed at all. In Islam it is forbidden to draw any image of Mohammed (Mohammed's own directive) in case of idolotry.
Not even a Muslim is allowed to have drawings/images of Mohammed.

That is why they are so offended.

Cheers,

AL

Sup AL,

The first article CNN.com ran on the story:

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/01 ... index.html

Excerpt:
"Islamic tradition bars any depiction of the prophet, even respectful ones, out of concern that such images could lead to idolatry."

Don't think I'll bother looking any further.

Yeah fair enough John. I guess I based my opinion on the various debates I've watched on national TV.

Silly me.

I guess it's really lucky for those guys that we don't react the same way when our ideals are challenged somewhere else. The first thing they do is attack someone(usually someone who had nothing to do with whatever they're mad about) in the name of allahhaha. I'll be so glad when the oil is all gone from there, then we can deal with the whole region(or should that be religion?). If they can't live and let live, then they shouldn't live.

And what exactly do you mean by that?

law and order, with a side of justice for the sane one's...even their govt's are controlled by the religion; seperation of law and religion...they just don't mix well together. Their govt's are too weak to govern properly. While I find it silly, I would never tell someone they can't worship a can of pork and beans if they want, but I draw the line when they tell me I've sinned for eating the contents.

You can't have law and order if your country is occupied (illegally) by an aggressive occupying force.

Yes, it was only a newspaper who decided to publish. Not all Danes.
You'll have to notice though that in some of those countries there isn't really so much separation with press and government opinions, cause the press is not so free as here...So it's somewhat understandable that some muslims would blame the government.
However it might be that it was not really the september pictures the issue here, but the interests of some extremist groups to create controversy...and get more power from the "field".

I couldn't agree more with the need for separation of religion and politics.

Agreed. And lets not forget that the other 'side', the West, are in the same boat, only that instead of Islam and politics, it's extremist Christians and politics. Remember the God told Mr.Bush to bomb Afghanistan and Iraq.

No doubt that same God told Mr.Bush of the upcoming Iranain Oil Bourse (oops..sorry nuclear weapons programme...), and the need to bomb them too.

And if the Christians and Muslims kill each other off, I wonder who benefits? Hmm.....

Yes, let us all blame Bush for this! :)
(well, USA in Middle-East is a part reason for creating the controversy)
I guess it's a god thing about eternal abortion talk in USA too.

On the other hand...why does Iran need nuclear power since they have all that oil...

Buddhists? (j/k)

Hmm, well it has worked elsewhere(though the religions haven't been the root cause of the conflicts): Korea(50+years of occupation), Japan(61years occupation), of course, I'd hesitate to charictarize the US forces as truly 'aggressive' towards most civilians(always a few bad ones in the bunch), but shooting back, hunting down their assailants is really just common sense.
I'm no expert on islame, but they seem to have a rule against non-muslims living and breathing in their 'countries'...there is a similar rule in the old testament about not intermingling with 'other tribes'. It's all insane, but I can't recall the last time, for examle, a Jew blew himself up in a crowded muslim hangout...imagine that, the last statement of a fanatic being to kill(suicide, murder...pretty sure those are sins in almost all popular religions).
I never agreed to have my money thrown away in this war(all wars should be illegal), but the US needs no other govt's approval to wage a war, legally. The UN is a joke, as it is funded virtually completely by the US gov't, and would soon cease to exist if we pulled it's funding. The world will never be secure as long as people don't want to get along, preferring to kill rather than talk(even if it's just to argue!).

Welby1:

I don't wish to get into an argument with you here, but you're thinking is flawed.

Why are US forces there? For the benefit of the Iraqi people? Nope, oil.
Your President sent your fellow American children to die for this reason, and also Mr'Hussein's wish to start an oil bourse that did not include your so sacred Petrodollars.

I'm no expert on islame
Your words, not mine.

but they seem to have a rule against non-muslims living and breathing in their 'countries'..
Hmm.. I reckon I'd be pissed off If some Europeans came to my land, took away my grandparents home and made it their own. Thats whats called 'Zionism'.

I have a rule also about some non-Irish people claiming that MY land is theirs. The rule is called 'Rebellion'. And, as like for example, the P.I.R.A, we fight occupation. The thing is we are either called 'Freedom Fighters', or 'Terrorists'. You decide.

The French, during WW2, were in effect 'Terrorists', yes?? But no, they were 'Resistance Fighters'. Make your bloody mind up.

It's all insane, but I can't recall the last time, for examle, a Jew blew himself up in a crowded muslim hangout.
Apart from the phoney 'Al-Queda cell'.....(http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/fakealqaeda.html).

They don't need to. They have superior military might to allow them not to do so for f*ck sake. Grow up.

You are American, yes?
If so....read this and come back to me:

Yes, but I'm sure you rememnber an Israeli missile doing the same if not worse in a Muslim neighbourhood, yes?
