Where to download old versions of mame?

Post by bob »

most of the links for the Win versions of mame don't lead to files on the marp site. I have tried http://www.classicgaming.com but they don't offer many old versions either. Anyone know a good site to get the old versions?

mame.net has old releases up to a point. And you can probably guess the URL for those that aren't listed.

Tried that for a couple that I found were missing, didn't have them.

The vast majority still seem to be here. If we do find the missing ones, can they be replaced? Some of the senior members may still have them on harddrives somewhere.

http://mame.joymonkey.com/mame32/ has a decent archive of old versions. Before it was more complete, but their server got hosed and lost some versions.

Looks like a great site for downloads, but the versions I need don't exist. I just get this http://mame.joymonkey.com/mame32/index- ... 32v61b.ZIP.

I'm looking for the win32 v61 so I can watch a recording.

http://www.mame.net/zips/mame061b.zip (right-click, Save As Target - otherwise you'll get the usual ZTNet "off-network downloads aren't permitted" error)

Or use Firefox and don't send referrer headers.

Thanks, that works. But for some reason I can't seem to get the destructor@HotTeam.pl Karnov recording to playback now. Game starts, but no recording.

Do you use windows mame version?
For record I use mame32-61 with sound on 44kHz.
I will check my inp ...

EDIT
OK, I know. But it's strange. When I made backup (dowload from MARP) I get file dtr_karnov_999999_win61.zip. Inside zip is file karnov[m32-036].inp.
You must use mame version 36 for playback this inp.
Probably when I upload score I choose wrong MAME version on Submit page and next change it to correct version.
I think MARP should always change zip names when we edit score.

Thx for clearing that up. Awesome recording btw. You did some crazy stuff I have never seen before. I use to play Karnov like a champ back in the day. I could get to the wizard on 1 man but I could never beat him. I must admit, that ending was horribly gay, but oh well, what can u expect. gratz on a great recording.

This is really getting annoying, but I am now trying to find mame32b-037b5.zip so I can watch a Double Dragon recording but I'm having no luck. Yes, the link on marp works but its only the exe, which is useless. Says, missing .dll or something. Why isn't there a site that has ALL the full mame versions for download? Seems like it would be pretty simple to do.

http://mame.joymonkey.com/mame32/
Download older official (not exe only) MAME version and copy dll files to your 37b5 folder.
