This is further discussion on button mapping rule. Whether we allow diagonals or not.
mahlemiut wrote:Sounds fine - but what about mapping one key to two directions, ie: for easier diagonals. I don't have so much an issue with this, and would be willing to allow that specifically.

I'll do now another discussion about that. allowing diagonals can be added to this rule later.
My opinion would be that it's not ok to do with atleast fighting games.
You know that if you push right and up key at keyboard at same time you get a diagonal.
The problem is that if you map 2 buttons to a diagonal at keyboard, then it's much more easy to get a dgnl than with a joystick.
I know you don't want keyboard players to be punished...But do we want to punish Hotrod players then?

Get diagonal on keyboard is harder than get diagonal on joystick. I know what I say. I often (more than often) have problems with get diagonal immediately.
This discussion is measured versus keyboard players only.

Very funny.
Next stupid discussion for stupid rule.
Maybe time for use different version mame for recording inps, where is impossible to check key mapping

Not true. I find the keyboard easier to push two buttons simultaneously on.

Not immediately. You always first get one direction and next second direction. On stick you get immediately diagonal. In 99% case I don't get diagonal immediately.
I don't use one key for diagonal but setting rules for disallow this will be very stupid and very not fair for keyboard players only.
mahlemiut wrote:There's no way you can get an immediate diagonal on a stick every single time.
Really? Then for what are 8-way sticks?
There is no such thing. It's only a 4 way stick, that has connections closer...so that when you move the stick diagonal it recognizes 2 directions kept being pushed at same time. It is not easy to get a diagonal using hotrod.
2 directions at 1 key then (because you take only one move to take it), hm....and you want disallow it. Then how you want to use stick as HotRod? You must disallow using arcade sticks then. Why disallow diagonal on keyboard only?
Then:
1. Keyboards will be disallow
2. Arcade stiscks will be disallow

or Power Special samsho4 A+B+C+D? Without macr keyboard gets blocked! Slide SubZero B+LP+BL+LK? this on gamepad was not it been possible also to execute and this is uncomfortable.
Do you really think use of macros should be allowed?
