Was just messing around whilst drunk, and using RLH for speeds. Either way, I have never done or seen this before. That is, THREE identical jumps on Triple jump!

Have any of you T+F/HS players done/seen this? Or am I making a mountain out of a mole-hill?

Cheers,

AL

Well, using RLH you've eliminated one of the variables.

I guess you also hit 45 degrees on all three.

That just leaves the spot that you jumped from happening to be the same on all three. Or is there also a random factor involved?

I'm sure it's unusual, but not unbelievable, especially using RLH.

Correct John. Using RLH eliminates the 'speed' variable. But the angle-per-jump variation is , well quite variable.

The jumps were not from the same spot, the angles were not all the same, but it's a rare occurence. Trust me.

The chances of landing on 17m84 ( or other distance ), on the Triple Jump three times is quite rare. Not that it's a big deal or anything. It's just that I've never seen or heard of it in all my years.

Oh, no bonus btw.

Unless of course Tommi or others can vouch for me!

Cheers,

AL

p.s Barry. When you're drunk, anything is playable. Not very well. But playable. Wtf is 'Come on Baby'?

It has to be dumped first. Believe it or not, cheap Korean ripoffs are not all that easy to find.

It's a hack in MAME that allows a player to run as fast as possible - note that this is not allowed for MARP recordings.

Al, that IS rare! :) Not happened to me as far as I remember. :P

At T&F longjump I have done it atleast once with mame...but then again at longjump I jump much tighter bunch of jumps. As you know, you do get 1000 points for doing that at T&F.
............At T&F there are those "usual" distances...9,63- 9,67- 9,72 etc...So let's say at T&F my jumps are inside 36cm usually, and every third jump I foul, jump less or more, or distance is not "usual"...That would make odds getting 3 same distance jumps (1/8)^3 * (2/3)^3=0,000578704
Meaning that I would jump 3 same distances at T&F longjump once in 1728 tries. Which sounds close enough...

...Using same system at HS triple jump...assuming that you jump inside 72cm mostly, not doing it every third try....if you wanted to do your hat-trick again, you would have to try 1/[(1/16)^3 *(2/3)^3] tries = 13824 times

...So... enjoy it now, you might not do it again :D

Fascinating. Don't think I've ever had 3 identical on either TnF or HS. Had two plenty of times tho..

Don't see why RLH had anything to do with it.. am I being dumb lol? Yes you got good speed, but as someone else said there are loads of common distances.

Boo btw.

Thanks guys. I knew it was rare , hence me posting about it. I knew that HS players would appreciate the rareness of it.

Hey Tommi , thanks for your formula. Even rarer than I thought!

It is rare... I spent an couple hours playing just that to see how hard it was/unlikely it was. Had 2 a couple of times.

Is this still rare (in MAME)?

Yes :P
There's not inp at Marp showing anybody get apples...I haven't done it with mame, yet got few times 4600. Many of us did it at arcades though...If you have inp, that's good stuff for marp tips&tricks page!

If you get "nice" 50% of time, propability to get all nice is 256 to 1. Yet it's not so straightforward. It's normal to start with 6-7 nices and then blew it...Because of small adrenaline rush, I think human nature...

TJT

My previous T&F and HS calculations were wrong though, hoped I could get away with it, and nobody notices, but I did notice :D ...You should divide TF longjump propability with 8 and HS propability with 16
Because you don't have to calculate propability to get SAME distance for 1st jump, first jump can be anything...only count propability for 2nd and 3rd jump to match first...
Yet at TF longjump first jump is usually shorter than 2nd and 3rd, which makes getting 3 same distances harder.
...And there is also the "bottle" factor(nerves).
I would think TF propability is really about 300-1000 to 1 and HS maybe 3000 to 1. That makes a long time to play thousand rounds of the game though :P
