I have played "New Rally X" for a few days in the #Tombstones tourney and I have a question for you:
Have you tried it in mame 084u2?
To me it feels almost twice as hard as when we had our little battle during the deca 2001
The fist few days I thought it was due to the lack of practice... but now I KNOW something has changed! According to the dips it is still on easy though.. If you have time, maybe you can try a few games and check it out? I mean.. my best so far is only arround 200k stage 16 and its hard as hell on that stage!!... and I hit 350k+ during the deca, stage 26!!
I remember I had loads of 200-250k scores and a lot of 250-300k scores during the deca.. After 20 games+ during this tourney.. I'm glad to get 150k!
Tested it and got 256K Round 18 in my first go. First I thought the red cars went a little faster but after trying on M32-TG where I only got 178K Round 13 (first and only try) I don't think so.
Maybe it was just a lucky game but its been a very long time since I've played it seriously, and then I think 256K is a good score in the first try. Maybe its that Round 16 that is harder, and I was just lucky. Have you passed that round?
So far I don't think there's any differences, however the rom changed in .79, so who knows.
Still though.. I don't remember having any problems at all getting 200-250k on that game.. like half of the games i tried ended up arround 250k.. Now I can't even get 200k.. I don't know why
The cars seems to be faster and more inteligent. Strange though.. I feel that I have practiced enough. I will have to try some more then

I have to say that it sounds weird that you can't get 200k in that game. I'll have another go sometime and see what I get. Maybe my first game was just pure luck
