problem with WolfMAME Plus 0.85u2

Post by preload »

There is a problem with this version of wolfmame.

In some games, if I play normally the speed is ok (100%). But if I record the inp the game's speed is 50%.

I have seen this in all the series of Championship Sprint and Super Sprint.

With wolfmame 83 there's not problems...

Super Sprint works perfectly fine for me. Do note that INPs are more than twice as big as they were prior to 0.84u4 - it is possible that a little slowdown may occur when recording, although 50% seems quite ridiculous.

I think that this is a known problem with the latest realeases of MAME (85). Haze? A more technical answer?

Tried a game that doesn't run at 100% on my system (Bloody Roar 2 ;)). No speed difference from normal play, and when recording or playing back.

I've see this problem only with Championship Sprint and Super Sprint. And 50% is not ridiculous see here:

when playbacking an inp the speed is ok (100%)...the problem is when recording an inp...about 50%...it's impossible to play at this speed...too slow

Re-download. The wrong version was recorded in the first build.

Ok, I see. Looks like there's about a 50% reduction in speed in Super Sprint (checked it unthrottled) when recording. Maybe affects analogue games?

...

Just checked the INP sizes between Bloody Roar 2 and Super Sprint...
Bloody Roar 2, after just over 1200 frames - 204,504 bytes
Super Sprint, after 1182 frames - 6,473,308 bytes

There's where the CPU usage is going. :)

Same with 720 degrees.
About 1minute of play 25MB inp! At frameskip 11 percentage is around 70% with P4 2,4G...Unplayable, with my third recording had to reset my PC, game was so jammed that couldn't get out of mame using esc.
Doesn't matter if joystick or mouse is disabled or not.
Plays okayish, when not recording.

Gerhards 720 recording(which does not playback)of only 10 000 points is 77MB unzipped, 400KB zipped. Finishing game is around 170-250 000 points, half hour. Maybe one Giga unzipped, ha - ha - ha...

Tried Starwars, played only one round, couple minutes. inp size is 2,5MB, no matter if played with mouse, joystick or keyboard.
...If played with wolf82, similar play inp size is about 0,25MB, played with mouse. Wolf85 is not much slower than wolf82 at Starwars, when not recording. pressing F10 makes speed around 400-500%

Same with Stunrun, plays around 90% when not recording, when recording, speed drops down 10-20%, because inp writing assumably. Didn't test inp size at Stunrun. Propably same thing as at SW....only 10 times bigger than before....
