I discovered how this happened.
it worked on demon by jtc on wolf 83
on the mame frontend , there is an option called -
..............................pallete setting...............................
if you adjust the colors red , green , blue .
other than the blank setting
you get the vector effect .
evidently , it was pre-set on wolf 84
