Killer Instinct

Post by Alpha »

Hi,

Just wondering how I need to record Killer Instinct  I did make a recording that has enough points to get in the first place, but it only seems to playback on my machine (WinXP Pro) although I did delete the "kinst.dif" file. Do I need to do somehting else before recording? For those who want to try playing back my recording: click here (if playback succeeds you'll see a 44 hit with Orchid against Riptor - used mame83 (not wolf)).

Thanx,
Frederik

I'm not sure if KI uses NVRAM or not, but if it does, that will need to be removed (kinst.nv) too. WolfMAME does that automatically... :)

EDIT: Recording plays fine for me - lost to Orchid, scores add up to given total.

i don't think kinst.chd was updated (so what i'm saying later proly won't work) but you might try

ren kinst.chd kinst.old.chd
chdman -update kinst.old.chd kinst.chd

to just make sure the chds are compressed in a recent fashion.

Mahlemiut, killer instinct does not need the nv ram file. I assume it uses the dif file instead. Nice that it plays back fine on your machine :) Is that good enough to submit my recording? BTW: do you use WinXP Pro?

Chad, the chd file has been updated before I made the recording :?

Yes, I use WinXP Pro (SP1a). .nv and .dif files are two different things, .nv storing data saved to non-volatile RAM (eg: EEPROM, CMOS...) and .dif files store changes made by the game to the HD. It would be logical that there is no form of NVRAM when it could just be written to the HD instead.
