actually deleting the nvram is ok if you do it BEFORE the recording is made, but if he did delete the nvram he did it "after" the recording was made which meant there was an nvram file existing before recording and thus that's why it's an instant dq.
preload:
(1) delete the nvram directory entirely
(2)
create a new flat file and call it "nvram" with no extension
or
at the dos prompt type "copy dir.txt nvram" or some small file that exists if dir.txt doesn't.
this will ensure mame doesn't recreate the nvram directory, there's another way to do it with mame variables but i forget. There should be a thread somewhere around here that tells all the ways to rid nvram out of your life...

the opwolf3u recording is ok, and playsback with out an nvram (i.e. nvram file deleted) the opwolf3 recording still needs the nvram and thus is dqued.
