boxster...movements seem fine but deaths to spiders are obviously out of synch. seem to remember there being probelms with this combo.

Same here.

Could it be that the whereabouts of the spider is controlled by the NVRAM file? I've tried with default NVRAM file, but that doesn't work. But maybe it needs a special NVRAM file.

I'll zero it.
