My guess here is that he's used non-default NVRAM. It appears that he tried to select the X-36, which of course will never work with default NVRAM without going to test mode and entering the maintenance code '01999'.

playsback ok with nvram that was setup with secret code. Final score 3335800, incredible use of bomb stock. But alas if you don't know how to enter the secret code to cater to this recording you can't play it back. He has to re-record with out nvram.
