Great idea QRS

Short and simple. Leave it exactly like the arcade and judge on a
game to game basis. I mean, allow continues (maybe limit them to 3
max) to finish games like SMB but as soon as a player tries to scab
for points from using unnecessary continues, disqualify the inp. I
can finish the game with maybe one or two conintues. If I wanted to
go for a maxed out score, I can do that too. That's not the issue
here, it's to allow the player to finish a game by using a continue
or two and getting the highest score they can without using a
continue just for scabbing points.

A game like Dr. Mario is perfect for using continues, because
there is no way to scab on this game or use a continue to repeat a
stage to get points. No one I know of will be able to use extra
continues to max out the score on this game at 10M pts. Especially
if it's played on a medium setting like I did when I got to level 28
and scored 899,000. I used extra increments to allow me to play
longer on the same game, otherwise my score would of been like 250k.

QRS's suggestion is good if we split only games that the time limit
makes sense, like SMB. No point in playing speed Mario Golf.

Looks like a compromise needs to be in order. I forsee two
possiblities:

A. Go with QRS's idea, with 4 1/3 hours as the time limit as one
split, and one with the default of 5 minutes as another split.

<p>

B. Average the votes out like I originally intended as a compromise
and make it about 2 hours: so 1800 seconds with 1/4 unit / second(or
1 unit after 4 seconds)

It's meaningless to average out the votes and have a 2 hour time
limit, I would rather make it unlimited. Also I think it's logical
that the vote for 150 seconds should count towards the vote for 300
seconds.

I'd first start off by saying this vote should boil down to either 300
seconds or unlimited time. 150 seconds is not an option as it's not
even the default (as you all know it's 300 sec). Adding credits to
continue a game is not allowed. Steve, read MARP rule 2a!

Finally, taking an average or meeting somewhere in between is silly.
That's like saying Gore should be in office for the next 2 years and
then Bush can take over for the last two! Remember simple majority
wins so every vote counts...

them like the time lemit never existed in the 1st place

re: Mario Golf -- just that I wouldn't see an appreciable difference
between a score made on unlimited or a score made on one credit,
although it would be preferrable to use unlimited for the time.
