the report
.inp file size same as the 108k submission - 16,4ookb
game lasts about 40 minutes

57,310 second- blue, bomb
85,140 third - red collision
117,600 fourth- red collision
i laughed on the 3rd

somewhat closely, thinking about the critters
different attack methods ,
and sure enough , one does a loop de loop
and wham ! 3 down 1 to go.
i am on the side of the player
galaxian skills come in handy
on a whole bunch of shooters on
m.a.m.e. as one could obviously guess .
what other games are you good at playing (phoenix , frogger)
have you tried defend the terra attack on the red ufo , exodus ?

Yup, tried redufo and exodus - I like the former best as the latter has the annoying fired-shot-swerves-as-ship-moves behavior (like moonaln) that I really hate with a passion

When three aliens and a ship come down though, redufo totally bogs down under my 1.8Ghz Centrino using SDLmame 0.123... WTF ! Will give it another go in the next days with xwolfmame 0.104 to see whether it behaves a bit better :D

Games I like are Crazy Kong, Frogger, Phoenix and Exciting Soccer (though it's been a while I haven't played CK and ES due to reaching good scores that really take a major effort for me to improve further). Track And Field (mostly hyprolyb which is the clone that ran in most bars in the '80s here) as well, but I've fallen into depression  after watching people run under my 7"85 in the 100m dash - and I can't even get back to running under 8"40 after years without training... all that with the XArcade Tankstick, I could never see people playing with buttons and learn from them. Probably I wouldn't learn even if I saw them !

Currently swearing a bit on hustler (the game, eh).

Note on sdlmame: i find that if the resolution is altered in anyway while running in window or fullscreen sdlmame is horrible, i have to play it in a window with regular 200x100 or whatever resolution for the performance to be great with low powered cpus. You can then change your xwindows resolution to the smallest it can be so it's larger on the screen and fast.

That's with -video opengl? I find it unlikely that the size of the window makes much difference unless you're using a software video mode. (Try -video gdi under Windows for fun ;))

Surely no chance of -video opengl for me :( my i915GM on the Dell D610 is terminally incapable of really doing OpenGL faster than you can turn the Sahara into the Garden Of Eden, even under up-to-snuff Fedora8.

Still - all Galaxian clones and frogger at the very least are totally smooth under SDLmame. redufo just isn't.

I manage okay with my crappy TNT2 M64 card, and the legacy nvidia drivers... can't be that bad. :)

Haven't looked at the 927K but I wouldn't be amazed anymore after watching the previous 700K+, that was already as great as it gets =D>

So when is Gary Whelan's record going to fall ?

In the meantime I crash my ships happily on galtaito for a superb 140K :D

galtaito looks to me galap1 but with a slightly shorter timeout from when you hit the mothership to when enemies start swarming again. Sure, 140K is definitely good for me - at least I don't get beaten by 10x by PacWhiz's fabulous scores... yet  - and your 98K isn't bad either !

I haven't had much time to play in the last three weeks, and I'll still be in short supply until the end of the month. Hope to have a bit more time in June...

I even managed a 103K on starfght tonight - then I realized I was playing without recording. D'oh ! #-o

Tried Altair a while ago but I couldn't get passionate about it... the nextfase scores are really great, hats off to both mrs. nibbler69 and mr. el wil =D>
