success!!
i found another wolf147 folder on my hard drive, and inp's were there!!
i normally just dump it on the desktop.
if i delete the 147 from my hard drive, will the desktop version be corrected?
too many questions!

It will use whatever is set in mame.ini in the folder you run MAME from.

cheers Barry.
they both say the same. i suppose the hd based mame will take precedence over the desktop one...

It will start with the defaults for each setting, then load from the various inis, starting with mame.ini, then various per-category inis (horizontal.ini, vertical.ini, vector.ini...), per-driver inis, and per-game inis.

To see what inis are being read, add -verbose (or just -v) to the commandline. The ini files parsed will be listed in the console.
