Different course/characters.

Post by Rank-71 »

One question.

For example,1942,1942(set 2) and 1942(set 3)are exactly same game I think.

varth, varth japanese, varth europian, varth USA,varth bootlegs are not have so much different games.

but they are recognized as different games.

In other hand, king of dragons is recognized as 1 game if using elf, fighter, dwarf, creric ar wizard.

not so bad players know it is nonsence to compare the score of elf and fighters.

5,300,000 at elf is poor score(gby saying),but 3,200,000 at fighter is WR.

pipe dream course A,B and C is completely different game.

5million at course C is poor score but WR of course B is less than 3.8mil.

Why not seperate these course/character selecting games?

different version recording makes boring races but different characters are much interesting..

thank you for read my poor language and opinion.

I have sold that the 5.3M inp at kod is a poor recording, not a poor
score..and is just an opinion (not much condivided).

Btw, Kod has not any course, the games is ever the same, using a
different character can change the way the game is played, but not
the game itself, like sf2 or any other game with different character
to choose.

Giovanni pretty much summed up what I was going to say. We don't split
games by character, as that's essentially a player-chosen handicap
(not to mention the fact that we would then have to split A LOT of
fighting games)

As for Pipe Dream, I see no reason why not to split this, provided the
courses for all three worlds are different. If someone can confirm
this, I'll e-mail Pat tonight.

1942 may be the same, but for the most part all clones have some
differences weather they be color changes or difficulty settings. I
also think they are the same but to someone who plays the game
regularly there probably are differences.

As for kod, the game is the same, you are given the opportunity to
play with the character you enjoy (or gets more points.) It would be
too messy to separate characters.

As for pipe dream, this is a game the does deserve to be split up to
pipedream-a pipedream-b pipedream-c, this probably will be done as
soon as Pat or Zwaxy has time.

Separating scores by character may be fine for hardcore fans of the
game that want to compare scores, but as a MARP thing I don't think
it's a good idea to split games up like that.

For example, let's look at Gauntlet, a game that contains four
separate high score lists in-game, one for each character. Yet one
score is only accepted per character. Gauntlet has 3 clones, so
splitting each romset up into four different categories would make 16
scores to fight over, which is a bit too much. If we go by your idea
of banning all clones and only using scores from the main romset, we
lose clones that are actually vastly different in terms of difficulty.
The Intermediate Releases of Gauntlet are much easier (i.e. more food)
and so higher scores are possible. Because of the differences in
gameplay I think it's wise to keep the clones around.

Another instance (gotta talk about games I love) is Shock Troopers:
2nd Squad. Like Gauntlet, there are four separate high score lists in
the game. I've found that I tend to get higher scores with the faster
characters (personal best is 14,145,770 with Lulu... what's the Gamest
record anyway?), but there isn't too much difference in the final
scores. As much as I'd love to see this game split into four
categories, it really isn't necessary.

Now Shock Troopers 1... this game has three separate routes to start
with, and then you can switch to any of the three at the "halfway"
point. The total number of combinations of different stages is 9.
(Valley-Valley, Valley-Jungle, Valley-Mountain, Jungle-Valley,
Jungle-Jungle, Jungle-Mountain, Mountain-Valley, Mountain-Jungle,
Mountain-Mountain). But the game itself only has a simple Top 5 for
all routes. The route chosen can greatly change how many points you
earn.... basically, if you want the highest score, you MUST pick
Jungle-Valley route. Should this game be split up into 9 separate
categories? Probably not, seeing how I seem to be the only big fan of
the game on MARP, I'd just get a chance for 8 more 1st's. But hey, it
has a clone too.... which is actually pretty different in terms of
gameplay. I think the current system is just fine.

Basically, I think that unless picking a character TOTALLY changes the
game, we should leave everything as it is. If we start splitting up
games like King of Dragons, we'd have to do everything on a
case-by-case basis (whatever happened with lengthening the sports
games to full games anyway?)

-BBH, who still doesn't understand what warranted splitting up the
Magical Drop games by difficulty

all right. I now think character selecting is impossible here.
Good bye fighter, dwarf, crelic at king of dragons.
Good bye guy at final fight.
Good bye everyone except guile at street fighter2.
and Good bye all 48 ships at dangan feveron welcome the CAT!

anyhow,course and route is different.
route separate is nonsence. outrun has 4 junction. 2x2x2x2=16!
paznic has 3way selectings at every stages.3x3x3x3x3x3x3=2187!

I mentioned about pipedream it should separate as same as cameltry and super-hang on.

Thanks.

"Good bye everyone except guile at street fighter2."

In case you didn't notice Hisa-Chan, all 1st place scores on the
regular SF2 romsets (not Champion Edition or Hyper Fighting) have all
been achieved with Ryu. Yeah, Guile is unquestionably the best
character in SF2 World Warrior, but I guess Dudu and I have found it's
easier to score using Ryu or Ken.

So you're saying we should have 8 categories for SF2 and 12 for CE and
HF?
