Hi, I'm experiencing problems viewing that great Psychic5 replay from Bugfinder, here: http://marp.retrogames.com/index.cgi?mo ... sort=score
It's a 17.7 Millions inp, recorded with Mame0.36beta14 on DOS
I can see it on a Win98 machine, but only at 3fps. The strange thing is that pressing F10 it goes far over 100% speed, this means for me that the PC is powerful enough, but the emulator does not recognize it and it runs slow.
I tried running it on winXP with Dosbox installed, again it goes 3fps (pressing F11 I see the stats "auto11 63% 3/53 fps")
thanks in advance

Try under real DOS
Maybe problem is that rom was changed in 53.

Re: Problem with Psychic5 17Millions inp
Try it with the equivalent version of MAME32. Although, Win98 should run DOS MAME fine. I guess you may have some sort of audio conflict going on.

Re: Problem with Psychic5 17Millions inp
@Des: I didn't mention it because the effect was the same, but I already tested it in a real MS-DOS machine (different from the win98 one), with a real Soundblaster and so on, slow just as on other cases. (even more because my DOS-PC is not very powerful, at least not like the win98 one)
But the emulator starts with the rom I have, Could it happen that a wrong rom make emulation starts anyway? I will find an older romset just to be sure, but sounds strange
@Mahelmiut: Unfortunately there is no 36beta14 version of Mame32, it jumps from 36beta10 to 36beta15, and both desync.
I think I'll make experiments with different CWSDPMI versions, now I'm using v.5, but I've no other ideas.
I tried nosound=desync in any case
I would have thought it could be a video problem, I don't know, Vesa mode or other possibilities. Which parameters would you suggest me to shake?

Re: Problem with Psychic5 17Millions inp
If you've got it working in win98 that's a good thing even if it gets fps=3. If F10 makes it go too fast then there must be some problem with ini files that is hurting the emulation. (1) try a clean mame install no other ini files. (2) I was able to get it to do fps=3 by setting the frameskip to 11 with the F8/F9 keys. but I can get it to go back to fps=53 by making the frameskip=0 with F8/F9, although it still skips around below 53 for somereason. Auto frameskip gives me 53 average, though which isn't what you seem to get. I wasn't able to get it to playback with out desynching at all in windows xp, don't have dosbox but probaly should or at least a win98 virtual machine (i should have.) If making sure autofs is off and fs=0, you can try this 36b11 version (the only win version with in the b11-b14 range i know.)

CWSDPMI is only used in DOS mode. Windows provides its own DPMI service. DOS audio drivers should not be needed, either, unless needed for SB emulation or something.

Re: Problem with Psychic5 17Millions inp
thanks guys, I've made experiments with XP/Dosbox, and it seemed that using the -tweak options and -vsync it gains a little speed. This night I'll try similar changes on the w98 machine, anyway the speed is becoming to be accettable.
I always make a new folder with a fresh installation of the MAME+Rom+Inp to see a replay, as Chad stats it's the best thing. Unfortunately that w36b11 version you posted desyncs in the beginning just as the w36b10 and the w36b15 do, but the speed is indeed perfect
