Hisa-Chan's latest recording weighs in with a score of 7.7 Million and is simply breathtaking. I have never seen this game played like this before. He treats the enemy with utter contempt and disdain - especially the game end bosses where he sometimes toys with them for extra score. In particular the level 2 and level 6 bosses are polished off in brilliant manner I've never seen done before.
<p>
The wheels didn't fall off until the end of the 2nd time through the game on the final boss. He finally met his maker in 3-2. Let's just say that the game regained some lost respect the third time through!
<p>
He uses red + homing virtually through the entire game. He converts to blue for a brief instant to accelerate the demise of boss 2 before regaining red power at the start of stage 3. Boss 2 is were he first used a bomb. His second bomb was dropped in the middle of level 7 (metal spiders) and another well timed lobbed at the end on the level 7 boss. Don't ask me how but there is a safe spot when facing the final boss where you can't be shot from - look out for that one.
<p>
Another thing to watch for is a little known secret in level 3 - if you allow the big ship (3/4 the way through) to dock before destroying it you can get a free life. He didn't pull it off the first time through but managed to snag it the second time through.
<p>
One question - why does he use the blue 2nd player ship rather than the 1st player red ship - is there an advantage in it?
<p>
I think I can wave goodbye to my Starforce recordings that I believe are next on his hit list (lucky me
<p>
Although it pains me to say it, might I suggest R-Type to follow as it is under represented on MARP. I have a high of 451000 reaching level 7. I have seen a recording on MAME NAVI that completes it both times through (16 stages).
<p>
I'd like to thank Hisa-Chan for bringing to MARP incredible flagship recordings like Raiden and Rainbow Islands. We are fortunate to be able to showcase gems like these.
<p>
Now I think I'll have a little lie-down while I wait for my Starforce records to be buried!
