Second MAME Olympiad - Teams and Game Selection
Here's the teams:
Destructor, Kaiser, Equimanthorn, and Wuzel in the Poland team
LeClaqueufou, Redstar, JYD, and Bigboudda in the France and Belgium team
MJS, Frankie, and Metrackle in the World team
OK - so I've picked three games from each team, one game maximum from each player... and one additional game I chose out of the blue to "keep you honest".
POLAND GAMES:
Double Dragon 3 (Destructor) - MOST STAGES, LEAST TIME WINS
Star Force (Kaiser)
Super Dodge Ball '96 (Equimanthorn)
FRANCE/BELGIUM GAMES:
Scramble (Redstar)
Wonder Boy 3 (JYD)
Giga Wing (Bigboudda)
WORLD GAMES:
PacLand [pacland2 set] (MJS)
Canyon Bomber (Frankie)
Neo Bomberman (Metrackle)
GAME TO KEEP YOU HONEST:
Soldam
FOR ALL GAMES, NO WARPING OR STARTING BEYOND LEVEL 1 IS PERMITTED!
I picked Double Dragon 3 to expand on the variety of game types... I picked Soldam because there wasn't a puzzle game... there was no entry for any player in that game... and we haven't seen competition in 4 1/2 years in this game.
Playing will begin on February 14th. Now, here are your guns, you may kill me now.

Oh right - thanks for reminding me. All players will play between 4 and 8 games. Who plays what game and how many people play in said game is up to you. And you can change that allocation until the tournament is over.destructor wrote:We must choose which players will be play on which games? For example - on star force from our team will play: destructor, Kaiser, wuzel.
Or we all play on all games?

You think so? Well... the score for each game is averaged... then they'll be compared to the averages of the other teams, then assigned a ranking... so I think I'm still ok with 4-8 games / person.
I can give examples... but I'll have to do it later.

Yes, that was the intention... if only one player from a team scores one million and the other two or three don't submit a score at all, the team's score is 1,000,000/1.destructor wrote:Hm.. I don;t understand something. I don;t understand almost all
If on game will play 1 player with team only with score 1mln, how it will be avereaged. 1mln/1?
What wolf version we use?
EDIT
Gameboy9 please correct Aquimanthorn nick. It is Equimanthorn.
If, in another game, two players score 400,000 and 600,000, one player doesn't submit a score, and a fourth player had their recording DQed, the team score would be 1,000,000/2 = 500,000... I will consider DQed scores as games they didn't play on at all... so, in reality, all players in a team must submit 4-8 QUALIFIED scores.
Sorry for the confusion if there was some.
And the nickname is corrected... sorry about that as well.

Then best if team will submit one score for one game. Then average score will be highest because always will be divided by 1.
Otherwise if 1 player must play on 4 games minimum then probably best will be:
1-10 games, abcd - players.
Then team with 3 players have more chance because they can choose more games where will play 1 player only. It's no fer.
Am I correct?
Otherwise if 1 player must play on 4 games minimum then probably best will be:
Code: Select all
1. a
2. a
3. a b
4. a b
5. b c
6. b c
7. c d
8. c d
9. d
10. d

Interesting analysis Des. If scores are divided by number of players that will make number of combinations huge and game selection very tactical.
Let's say that I would be confident I'd make 800k at scramble, would it be wise for only me to submit at it or would the team win the game with a combined score of say (300k+300k+800k)/3 =466k. What if I sucked at all other games, should I submit at those that have superior player or at those where average could be close...Would I drag down close scores, or would I drag down clear winning scores...
Hehehe.

I think better way is that every team must submit 2 scores for each game and every player can't play on more than X games.
X = number
Do you think (or feel) the same? Or maybe I'm wrong?
Otherwise we can test system made by Gameboy9
Right name Super Dodge Ball (96) in MAME is Super Dodge Ball / Kunio no Nekketsu Toukyuu Densetsu.
X = number

I can see that... it's probably a good idea? X in this case would be... I'd say... 6 games for the 4-player teams, 8 games for the 3-player team.destructor wrote:I think better way is that every team must submit 2 scores for each game and every player can't play on more than X games.

Any further discussion to destructor's proposal?

I'm actually now thinking of saying everybody must play six and only six games... what do you think?
