K5 Round 4 - Plump Pop

Post by BBH »

Game - Plump Pop (plumppop)
Duration of Round - September 25th 2006 00:00 GMT - October 1st 2006 23:59 GMT

And so the double-elimination bracket round of 16 begins with.... a Breakout-style game.

Either you love these games or you hate them. I hate them. So I don't have much to say about this one :P But it is somewhat original and cutesy, I suppose.

NOTE: On startup the game will give a report of a missing rom file and say it doesn't work properly. Ignore it, it's a PROM file (I think) that has no effect on the gameplay, so don't worry about it.

NOTE #2: Instead, here's something else to worry about it. There is a "Button 2" in this game that was not intended for use in the arcade. DO NOT USE IT. We highly recommend going into the Tab input menu, selecting Button 2, and pressing Esc so it gets changed to "None". If you press Button 2 at any time during your recording, it will automatically be DQ'ed, even if you press it at a time that wouldn't benefit you (such as between stages). So don't press it. Pushing button 2 = instant disqualification. (ok, I think I've made myself clear...)

Good luck to all, and remember - even if you lose your matchup this round, you are not out of it yet!

Oh my God!
Is it GEGOTW second part contest?

EDIT
Interesting, in service mode we have 2 buttons per player:
1 = fire
2 = warp
Then why in MAME under second button is cheat? Maybe emulation is wrong? Or maybe this button isn't available on control panel.On klov.com I see that game is for 1 button only, on MAWS is for 2 buttons category.

My guess is the second button was for the programmers to test the game, and since the cabinet is one-button they left it in.

I think now we can take Note #2 from BBH as special rule for Marp, and DQ Robbie's score (I've watched it yesterday, really funny but nothing to do with skill).
Anyone against ?
Waiting for Tommi's agreement, and if everybody's ok I will do the changes.

PS
Tip for the one who haven't notice :
if you catch ALL fruits on a level, next level you get next fruit with bigger value ;
fruits are banana (100), apple (200), lemon(400), kiwi(800), cherry, pineapple, not sure after

Just before the duel, BDF told us :
"Well, in fact i came to K5 just to be trampled down by Destructor so you know i am very happy to be in front of him on first duel. I will try not to close my eyes when he will run on me. " :D

May be you are jealous the Great DESSSTRUCTOR did it to him...

Don't worry BDF, I will be right there with you in the loser's bracket next week. I HATE these Breakout-style games, even more than puzzle games! My only chance is if TRB sucks even worse than I do at them (not likely).

I'm thinking of stopping now while I still like the game. :)
Eh, maybe a few more attempts, but I pretty much figured JYD would 0wn this game.
