Reward: $100 (usd)
Deadline for submission to MARP: June 16, 2006 2359 hours GMT
Further Bounty: $250 (usd) for exceeding 503,710 points by August 31, 2006.
Here the Space Invaders theme is souped up with diving aliens, a moving background, and color graphics. This was state-of-the-art in 1979. Still looks decent today, I think.

The further bounty is inspired by 2004's breaking of the 20 year old arcade record on this title by Englishman Gary Whelan. Robert Mruczek's big write up:

Robert is also knowledgeable on the title. His Lessons 101 and 102 on the subject:

Gary Whelan came to Funspot this year and beat his own record, scoring 503,710 points. Gary's page:

I didn't, I waited a week.destructor wrote:Why start when Deca on TG start?
Actually, I had a premonition that the selection of Deca games was going to be a horrible disappointment and was prepared to launch GEGOTW in response, one week earlier.
The list for Deca, from my perspective:
Rip Off: great game, now I gotta play it for three months to try to defend my "title" from all the elite gaming bastards
Omega Race: good game, but I thought had been tainted by leeching issues
Gyruss: good game, but I am no good at it
Speed Coin: different game, but I had enough of it in WCC about two years ago
Cabal: no interest
Dig Dug II: there's a game that never should have had a sequel
Alien vs Predator: no interest
Nightmare in the Dark: no interest
Indiana Jones: I like the theme, but I am no good at it, and there are people out there that have completely mastered it
Strider: no interest
So maybe the selection overall didn't suck as badly as I had feared, but after a week of pondering I thought since I was already prepared to start I may as well go ahead.
So here we are.

If you win the random prize we'll find an alternative.AL wrote:Heh...I already have that Galaxian tee-shirt. Well actually, two.
