Would you like to see a list of confirmers/editors?

Post by Gameboy9 »

Well the question is self explanatory, but if there is, I'd also like to make a list of requirements to have each of these statuses. I'd like your input on these rules if possible - but let me show you what I think would qualify:

Confirmers:

One month(maybe two?) in MARP, regular at the MARP board.

Editors:

At least six months in MARP, extreme regular at the MARP board, and regular to #marp?

This is just a start and also a bunch of suggestions. Any further suggestions are welcome :)

Thanks - GB9

I don't think a list is necesary but, One thing that might be easy to
do is to "log" who confirms a score, i just thunk that if the "edits"
are logged (shown in the "Up" link in the Up_Loads part of the header
frame) maybe the "confirms" can be logged as well, so we can see who
confirms what...? Perhaps this log isn't permanent, then it would
proly be useless if we couldn't research the archive of logged edits
and confirms.

I'm a confirmer - haven't done many of late though. A log of who's
confirmed the recording could be helpful and would enforce some degree
of accountability on the confirmer. As an aside I think that most of
the confirmations done on MARP have been done pretty well even though
there is some dispute on what the criteria is for acceptable
confirmatons. Personally I refuse to confirm any recording that
doesn't use standard settings etc even if it plays back correctly. I
know others are of the belief that an inp should be confirmed if it
correctly plays back.

As a rough rule of thumb I think that 1-2 months regular on the MARP
board is not bad and should be sufficient - especially if a log of
confirmations is kept. A minor but relevant detail is that you must be
sure that the 'would be confirmer' doesn't use bulk download software
like GoZilla that will automatically confirm everything on MARP.

As for editors I'm a bit more nervous about just anybody being given
this ability even after 6 months of MARP service. I think there needs
to be approval from both the MARP community and the team of people
currently administering MARP with the persons credentials/reputation.
Let's be a little careful with this one.

I think both time periods are much too short. A longer amount of
time is needed to build a reputation for that level of control. I
would recommend a minimum of 6 months MARP activity for confirming and
a minimum of 1 full year for editing. Even then for editing, there
should never be more than a handful of editors because if the
verification process is working as it should, little time would be
required to overrule and change scores.

I don't think that a list of confirmers would be necessary, but a list
of editors would be helpful for people doing any confirming. I am a
confirmer because I was giving Zwaxy too much work, but some
recordings do not work. In such a case, anyone watching a recording
that goes clunk needs to be able to email someone to notify the
author, or remove the score.
