Tourney 2 - Bad news for those who voted Puzzle Bobble...

Post by Gameboy9 »

Bad News: I can't put Puzzle Bobble into the tournament. Why? Because it will not play back. Even the confirmed score of Dave Roberts's 20,000,000 point game didn't play back on mame 34. We can't use it for this tournament.

Good News: I'll let those who voted that game revote. You have until September 16, 2359 GMT to do so.

Whoops... I was completly ignorant(is that the right word) that when
playing back the 20,000,000 score that the sound needs to be off.

Therefore, I'm reversing my decision to resubmit puzzle bobble. No
revote is neccessary.

HOWEVER, there are restrictions, MAME 34 FINAL will be the only
version allowed in this version, and each contestant MUST say wheater
or not sound was on or not.

BTW... in case you're wondering... puzzle bobble is not in the
tournament unless it's randomly picked to be in :)

Will win32 35 final versions be accepted? I think the cheat is not
doable in the win32 version as it is not doable in mame34, Are there
games in the 30 that don't exist in v34 or even v35... luckily
wakuwaku 7 exists in mame34 :)

First off, it would be no problem to compile a tournament version of
the latest beta with cheats disabled. I can take care off that.

Second, there is no way to know wich games are in top30 because the
voting page isnt updated.

Compiling a version with cheats disabled is useless unless it makes a
different inp file than the standard one so you can tell if someone
used the marp mame.exe or the standard mame.exe

Stig - I updated the web page five hours ago - nobody else has voted.

Second - we have to use mame 34 with this game because after that
version the game won't playback.

the highest stable recording version for wakuwak7 is m35b10, that
should be in that playback document/thread. Unfortunatley playing
the neogeos in mame34 is less than optimal. I don't think just
because there's a final release it means it's the best possible
version to use, obviously they didn't fix the playback feature known
in m35b11 in the final 35, and there are other games that playbetter
with a beta than the final (spacefb.)

i'll comply with an all out mame34 judment call, but i think allowing
a beta.exe instead of a final.exe as a tournament standard for a game
isn't the end of the world, especially when the beta is somehow
better than the final.
