Fire Barrel [firebarr]

Post by edusword »

This game has been recently updated in last versions of MAME. Some of these updates are CPUs clock speed:

- 0.141u1: Changed V35 CPU2 clock speed to 14318000 Hz.
- 0.66: Changed V33 CPU1 clock speed to 14MHz and V30 CPU2 to 7159000 Hz.

The MARP record was played using MAME 0.61. Is this INP valid? The change of the CPUs clocks speeds has changed the speed of the game? I think someone should make a revision of this point.

Best regards!

Depends on what the CPU is used for and what effect changing the speed might have.

Most arcade games' speed is tied to VBlank or VSync (ie: once per frame), so changing the CPU clock speed may not have an effect. It may well change the amount of slowdown when the game gets busy, so a clock speed change could affect the amount of slowdown, but may not impact it all that much.

Play the game in a version before and after each change and see what happens.

Rather than the CPU clock, I think that the game was basically broken prior to the video & sound fixes that me and Haze did back in the day. Go figure.
