HISTORY
In the early 90's, beat-em-ups were a hot commodity in arcades, raking in the money alongside one-on-one fighting games. A lot of this was attributed to some beat-em-ups supporting more than 2 players at once, increasing the potential profit for arcade owners. Konami was one of the kings of this genre, with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Simpsons being two of the most memorable and popular arcade beat-em-ups.
Metamorphic Force did not reach anywhere near the same level of popularity as the aforementioned games, but it's not a bad beat-em-up at all. Or at least... it's not a bad game in its original Japanese form, which is what will be played this round. Konami ruined the English releases of this game by switching from a traditional lifebar to a numerical Gauntlet-style lifebar that ticks down over time with little the player could do about it, thereby making 1-credit play impossible. They also changed a perfecly sensible scoring system into the "1 kill = 1 point" system that was unfortunately used in a number of other Konami beat-em-ups.
That's not to say the scoring system in the Japanese version is the absolute deepest thing around. Unlike the last game, the scoring in this game is very straightforward - the bonuses you get for clearing stages continually increase, so getting far (and hopefully finishing the game) is of the utmost priority. There also seems to be a healthy bonus for picking up meat with a full lifebar, so... good luck not getting hit?
Again, make sure you are playing the Japanese version of the game, which will require the parent romset + the clone. The romset was changed between 0.106 and 0.148, with the only change in the romset being the inclusion of a .nv file added (so if you find the newer romset, it should work with both versions). The game's shortname was changed too, from "metamrpj" in 0.106 to "metamrphj" in 0.148. Even if you're running the game in 0.106, recordings will be submitted to "metamrphj" on MARP.
With 16 players left, this is the second round of the elimination bracket. Winner moves on, loser gets knocked out.

Beat-em-up... cool... not too cool because it's against Innuendo Well, it's better beat-em-up than shmups (or Metamorphic Force instead of Final Fight) against you Sucesso, meu amigo!
Good luck to everyone!

Aaaaah, I like this game, if only I could have been here...

BBH/MJS/mahlemiut,
I highly suggest an official "Time Remaining" here, to define precisely the deadline. Or to define at MARP's clock until "April 22, 00:29:59"? Just to avoid issues. Some players were confused in the last rounds. Just my 2 cents...

Find me a countdown that accurately counts down to 00:00 GMT and I'll add it. Every time zone I try on the old countdown site counts down to 01:00 GMT instead, which is why I didn't include it in the last round... I know it's confusing...TRB_MetroidTeam wrote:BBH/MJS/mahlemiut,

It's the same site you used before. The previous issue was that "&p0=136" in your link, mixed with daylight saving time.
Now why MARP site clock has about 3 mins of difference I don't know. It didn't happen during K9.

I feared the game would be Final Fight, but I somewhat guessed the genre. It reminds my beating in Hook some KO ago
Good luck to everyone!
PS. Lol for my match: Rax-Dax, maybe for the first time in tournaments I'll be able to easily search both with only one board query (player=ax)

BDFil, I honestly have no idea why this keeps happening but the weird service mode freakout has struck again on another game It did happen pretty late and almost played back to the original score, but....

Re: [K10] Round 5 - Metamorphic Force (ver JAA) [metamrphj]
Well, i tried all week to do a recording but each time i get service mode around 90K.BBH wrote:BDFil, I honestly have no idea why this keeps happening but the weird service mode freakout has struck again on another game It did happen pretty late and almost played back to the original score, but....
I installed a basic, new version of wolfmame 106 twice and no idea where it is coming from but it seems to stuck to my arcade machine.
My best so far is 129200 : it is defenetly not my kind of game.
So i leave the competition on my best result ever on a knockout : round 5.
Good luck to Tekkaman@AIVA but i am not sure if luck will be enough.
And thanks to you, BBH for your time (specially on my "service mode" inps),your perfect organisation and choices in the games.

I'm sorry to see it keep happening to you, it's really quite bizarre because it hasn't happened to anyone else in the tournament. Wish we could figure out what the cause isBDF wrote:Well, i tried all week to do a recording but each time i get service mode around 90K.

Thanks, but don't forget about the other coordinators, mahelmiut and MJS! I'm just the one doing most of the posting because that's what the head coordinator's gotta doAnd thanks to you, BBH for your time (specially on my "service mode" inps),your perfect organisation and choices in the games.

Re: [K10] Round 5 - Metamorphic Force (ver JAA) [metamrphj]
My congratulations to my friend Valter and to Paulo Valmir. I hope you´ll do the best and win K10.
The games were very good, but specially in Metamorphic Force, I had difficulties at the second bonus stage and in last level. I´ve played doing my best, but I had no better results.
BBH, Mahlemiut and MJS. Congratulations for this great competition. Very good job. Quality and fun for me and for other competitors. Keep on!
Bye, bye and I hope Paulo Valmir or Valter win this tournament for Brazil.
