Not late at all! There's still a little less than 5 days left in round 1, all you have to do is upload a score to cosmogng (don't forget to include "K10" in the description)!

Unfortunately I may not be able to participate in the tourney based on the versions of mame that must be used. For whatever reason I can not find a single frontend that will play wolf 148. I get numerous errors and crashes everytime I select wolf148.exe as the filepath for mame. Ive tried several times on multiple frontends, and no dice. I would use wolf 106 as a last resort but I cant find a working download link for it. Every link on the marp site is non working. I can download any other version of mame except 106 which will at first tell me the file could not be downloaded, the just opens a blank page any time after that.

I have wolf 140 that works fine and has been an approved version in the past which I could use if this is acceptable. If its not then I may need to step put of this competition. I simply dont have time to spin my wheels trying to find an approved version of mame that actually works.

Are you sure it doesn't work?
I have just downloaded wolf 0.106 and it works fine. Check it.

I'm having a lot of problems with wolf 0.148 too. But 0.106 is always a guarantee :D

Nope just opens a "can not display" page. All other links in the index download fine. Any chance we can submit scores using wolf 140?

Sorry but as we stated in the rules, only wolfmame 0.106 and 0.148 are allowed.
The download link for 0.106 is working fine for me.

I see you got a recording uploaded with 0.106 since this post so I guess you got the download working.

But... in light of what's happened with playback problems with cosmogng in wolf148, I think we can make an exception and allow wolf140 for this round, as I would like to have a more recent version of MAME allowed for use alongside 0.106.

I must stress though, we did not test 0.140 at all and have no idea if it has the same playback problems that are present in 0.148 (we still have no idea what are causing the desyncs and obviously a desync might not show up in just one attempt at a test recording). Use wolf140 at your own risk.

(not to get on a tangent or anything, but I always want newer versions of MAME to be allowed because I do not think 0.106 is a great version of MAME. Mainly because it has additional input lag that should not be present. Something changed with the input ports in MAME in version 0.100 (also broke savestates too), and for whatever reason there is extra input lag in MAME for a long time since 0.100, up until... 0.128 or so? Don't remember the exact version, but it's fixed in newer MAME's. Most games in 0.106 only have 1 frame of lag, but some drivers had 2 and some even had 3 from testing. It's true that people aren't going to notice 1 frame of lag, and it went unnoticed a long time. But with other factors that can affect lag such as USB polling, and non-CRT monitors... the frames can add up. If I'm given the choice between playing on a version of MAME with extra input lag vs. one with less lag, why would I pick the one with extra lag? It's common sense.)

(but I also don't like 0.106 because it doesn't recognize my joystick of choice at all (whereas more recent versions of MAME do support it), and mapping everything through xpadder or joy2key could end up dropping inputs. Maybe there's some .ini file I have to download to add support though, I dunno...)

(Also 0.106 is over six years old at this point. That's six years of improvements to existing MAME games, as well as new games that might not have been supported at all before. Yes, I realize a lot of people feel more comfortable with that GUI, but did you know it's faster and more convenient to record a new attempt on a game from a command prompt? Hit Esc, press Up, press Enter, boom you're back in MAME attempting another .inp)

(ok, rant over)
