K5 Round 8 - Metamoqester

Post by BBH »

Game - Metamoqester (metmqstr)
Duration of Round - October 27th 2006 00:00 GMT - November 2nd 2006 23:59:59 GMT

It's... a fighting game. Although it's a rather unconventional one, as you're fighting huge bosses instead of "regular" characters (with the ability to have two players battle the boss together, but of course we won't be doing that). It's also somewhat difficult, so yeah, good luck. :)

Since nobody seems to object to the bracket changes, both Nanni and TRB have been "floated" to the other half. Just trying to keep things fair and fresh regarding the matchups, hope nobody is upset over it.

LOSER'S BRACKET MATCHUPS:

RAX@AIVA (4) vs. TRB_MetroidTeam (6)
Nanni (5) vs. pat33999 (11)

this game isn't very well-documented, so here are some tips...

there are 4 buttons:
A - light attack
B - medium attack
C - hard attack
D - projectile (does piddly damage)

Holding A+B together will make the character charge their super bar. The super bar can also be built up by landing attacks on the enemy of course. Up to 3 supers can be stored... push A+B+C to activate a super, which does decent damage and seems to guarantee a "dizzy" on the opponent.

There's no complete movelist posted anywhere, but typical fighting game motions seem to have good results (Back, Down-Back, Down, Down-Forward, Forward + button, Down, Down-Back, Back + Button, Forward, Down, Down-Forward + button).

and of course some poor junk :P

you're not getting any points from doing that move over and over since the enemy is already dead, so... I'm not sure why I understand you'd want to keep doing it, unless you were really bored :)

also note that if anyone is having speed problems, we will accept wolf71 of course.

less than 12 hours to go in this round. The scores have been fairly close but it looks like RAX has made a bit of a breakthrough! Will it hold up?

results:

RAX@AIVA (378,040) eliminates TRB_MetroidTeam (371,940)
pat33999 (323,540) eliminates Nanni (315,940)

yeah, I guess the outcome would have been different if that bracket change hadn't been made... sorry TRB, but everyone did agree to it :(

so we're down to the final 4 now. Good luck to all!

No fault of nobody BBH... I and all agreed for the "best purposes of the competition", and it is all :)

Note: both players that came from winners bracket last week are out... me and Nanni. Well... at least no "double Italians" match next round, and no "Revenge Chance" too :P

I enjoyed to play this knock-out, and for sure I will watch the rest of the rounds. Sometimes is better to watch outside than competing... ;)

Wow! Congrats to Rax and Pat for advancing the next round. I didn't think Rax would pull off a close game against TRB! :) The defending world cup champion has pulled off the penalty shootout against one of the Brazilian's best player. ;)

Next round will be called. "The Iron Man Challenge" for RAX and Pat. They both has started at the loser bracket and kept on playing and winning every rounds without having a single byes at all. Who will be the last remaining Iron Man? We'll see... Good Luck Rax and Pat. :) :)

Me too

I am *really* happy. And TRB, it's been a true hard competition. You are a very strong player, really :!:

Yesterday evening i had been stomped by Victle in a 395K-oriented game. I think I'm still screaming now :x . Luckily i had not need of such a score

Thank You guys for your words

PS, I would post this thing in the principal thread, but since it's locked i write here:
Making winners bracket players wait in Strike Force week (and later) has increased the rounds count by one.

original hypothesis was this:

Code: Select all

1st week: 8 games in Winner's - 0 games in Loser's
2nd week: 4 games in Winner's - 4 games in Loser's
3rd week: 2 games in Winner's - 4 games in Loser's
4th week: 1 game in Winner's - 3 games in Loser's
5th week: 2 games in Loser's
6th week: 1 game in Loser's
final 10days: Final game
actual tournament is this:

Code: Select all

1st week: 8 games in Winner's - 0 games in Loser's (Plump Pop)
2nd week: 4 games in Winner's - 4 games in Loser's (Bonk's Adventure)
3rd week: 4 games in Loser's (Strike Force)
4th week: 2 games in Winner's - 2 games in Loser's (Air Gallet)
5th week: 2 games in Loser's (Metamoquester)
6th week: 1 game in Winner's - 1 game in Loser's
7th week: 1 game in Loser's
final 10days: Final game
I'm happy to be here, anyway

Its hard to believe that I won! I'm not very good at fighting games. Beating the last boss was pure luck.

I tried many times to improve my score with a different character on the last day, but couldn't. After becoming so frustrated, I gave up and started playing Strike Force again (at least that turned out well). I thought for sure that Nanni would make a better score while I was wasting time with a different game.

Its too bad that we couldn't play again, TRB. If you play in T10, I will be there. :)
