Songs in Games

Somewhere for the annoying and/or off-topic threads to go. Feel free to post about whatever, but abuse will still be dealt with, and possibly with more force. Especially pac-porno. ;)

Songs in Games

Post by Chad »

I just realized the Moon Patrol in game music is very similar to the opening of the song by Ray Charles "What'd I say". Anyone else know game themes that sound like songs that didn't appear to be credited in the game or wiki?

Hi Chad,

here's one for you : there is the Vangelis "charriot's of fire" theme at the end of Track and field loops.

Yeah no doubt. The Track and Field runners also mimic what they did in the movie on the beach in attract mode!

Add to that: I just put 2 and 2 togther and jotted down that Pengo (a game I rarely played in the arcades) had one of my favorite songs that got me interested in electronic music = Pop Corn by Hot Butter!

Mikie and subsets were all Beatles music. Not sure how they managed to get away with that.

I'd be guessing Journey might be as well. Just a hunch ;)

Just read today that Ken's stage in SF2 is a rip-off of Cheap Trick's "Mighty Wings"

An honorable reverse-mention (i.e games in songs/videos)

Moby - We Are All Made of Stars :

Spot those games!

The computer is an Apple IIe. I remember playing the game in question heaps on our Apple II computers at school, but I'm struggling to remember the name of the game at the moment.

It was definitely not called scramble.

Edit: I think it is Star Blazer by Tony Suzuki - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s79Pv0bXua4

His post was a reply to mine about Blue Öyster cult song/vid. You can blame Al for "derailing" this topic!

oh ok, trying to make this a games in songs thread, ey? That's impressive that star blazer got that much credit, it was seriously a no namer. God, I love 1980's videos. They are just so awesome. The acting is horrible and the directing is worse, but it all makes up for it in the hair styles and glasses :)
