GEGOTW 2006 Championship Playoff

Post by Weehawk »

Our top 5 finishers in GEGOTW 2006 were:

1. Don Hayes.......................94 points
2. MarcoMarocco@AIVA..........93 points
3. Tekkaman@AIVA...............92 points
4. Sampras@AIVA.................81 points
5. destructor@HotTeam.pl........80 points

These 5 are eligible to compete for 2 weeks on 3 games to determine the 2006 overall champion. Monetary prize is $250.00 (usd).

The 3 games will be chosen by Friday's Megaball Lottery from these candidates (and no whining about them):

bubbles
food fight
krull
turkey shoot
demons and dragons
star trek
1942
zektor
pepper ii
rootbeer tapper

The first three balls will determine the games.

The first ball will determine the first game selected as follows: Bubbles (1-6), Food Fight (7-12), Krull (13-18), Turkey Shoot (19-24), Demons and Dragons (25-30), Star Trek (31-36), 1942 (37-41), Zektor (42-46), Pepper II (47-51), Rootbeer Tapper (52-56).

The remaining 9 games in the same order but with the first selected game removed will be selected by the second ball as follows: Game1 (1-7), Game2 (8-14), Game3 (15-20), Game4 (21-26), Game5 (27-32), Game6 (33-38), Game7 (39-44), Game8 (45-50), Game9 (51-56).

The remaining 8 games in the same order but with the second selected game removed will be selected by the third ball as follows: Game1 (1-7), Game2 (8-14), Game3 (15-21), Game4 (22-28), Game5 (29-35), Game6 (36-42), Game7 (43-49), Game8 (50-56).

Scoring: For each of the 3 games, the player having submitted the highest score so far at 23:59:59 on January 23, 27, and 31 will receive 2 points. Competition ends at Super Bowl kickoff on February 4. Part of your challenge is to figure out what time that is for you locally. The top 3 finishers on each game will receive 10, 7, and 5 points, respectively. This makes it pretty similar to regular GEGOTW scoring, but on 3 games simultaneously over two weeks.

Marco and Sampras, PM me your Paypal email addresses. I can't find them.

What this knows? For me deadline is 00:00 my local time? Not GMT?

The first three balls were: 35, 28, and 4.

Looks like:

Star Trek
Demons and Dragons
Bubbles

A pretty good mix, I think.

Two quick questions:

1. We should be using WolfMAME 106 for all three games, correct?

2. To be eligible for bonus points or the final points, does a player have to beat an existing submission that they already have on MARP? For example, my Star Trek recording from GEGOTW was something like 337K. Do I have to top that to be eligible for bonus points and/or final points or can I zero that score out in order to submit?

Kickoff is at 1700 hours U.S. Central Standard Time. That would be 2300 hours GMT. February 4.

1) Yes, use WolfMAME .106

2) Previous scores will be irrelevant here. If you need to submit something lower than an existing score on MARP, you can delete the old score temporarily or submit the new recording as an attachment here, or put it on your own storage and give us the link, whatever.

It's only fair...you topped my previous score by only 4K :)

Yup, need the faster turning on later screens. I still sometimes use the joystick for, though, since it feels more comfortable for me.

Wow, even closer this time, Des...only 900 points! I honestly didn't see your upload until just after I did mine (although from the timestamps, mine was a couple minutes after yours).

Heh, this time I was prepared for it ;)

Good score in Bubbles, Don. Hardest game in whole playoff for me.

Clean sweep for destructor on the final bonus points.

The totals so far:

destructor: 12 points
Don Hayes: 4 points
Tekkaman: 2 points

Theoretically anyone could still win, but des and Don are the only ones who control their own destiny completely. (A first place finish on all 3 games for either of them would guarantee victory.)

Less than 24 hours left...
