Question on my New INP

Post by RTM »

Hi Weehawk:

I just played a run moments ago and something strange happened.

About 2 inches from the end of the second asteroids belt, the game awarded me three (3) extra ships. I finished in excess of 25K but I am questioning whether this is a glitch or part of the game...I thought only one ship at 20K was to be awarded.

I have to now re-check whether that happened with the recent 22K score that I uploaded to MARP earlier this morning.

If you know anything about this condition, please advise. Thanks !!

The 22K is Good, the 25K May Not Be

Post by RTM »

Hi Weehawk:

My earlier 22K score did not give me the extra three ships. Therefore I have no idea why in the higher performance it did.

If you would like to see the glitch happen for yourself, let me know to which E-MAIL address to send and I will do so. Until then I will not submit that one to MARP or to TG for that matter.

While it's nice to think that I might have discovered a secret bonus, I have to believe otherwise as a matter of prudence.

You may email to Image.

Better yet, why not attach it here so that others may see it as well. Before submitting or editing a post, click the "Browse" button in the "Add an Attachment" section, navigate to your file, then click the "Add Attachment" button, when done click "Submit", as illustrated below:

on the asteriods belt after the suns there's a bonus life.

If you look one little ship of the same color of the asteroids.

Shoot it and gain extra life... only one of course

Here's the Glitch

Post by RTM »

Hi Weehawk:

Thanks...I am adding the attachment here.

I see that gamer Sampras indicates one free life is possible. That's good news. Maybe this enclosure will lead to more being possible !!

Interesting.

On your 37,490 recording and Tekkaman's 30,270 recording I see the bonus ship you refer to. On Robert's two recordings and on Gerhard's 20,920 I do not see it in that screen.

When you shoot it you hear the same "ping" sound that is heard when you get the bonus life at 20,000. When Robert got the mysterious 3 ships there was no such noise. It happens at score 4,610 in his attached recording and not at a point where he is shooting anything. Still no clue on the cause of this.

Happened Again in 2nd "Sun" Stage

Post by RTM »

Hi Weehawk:

This time it gave me three ships very late into the game...the second "Sun" stage at approx 27K. Note that in this INP which I am not submitting, I also found the secret ship in the asteroid belt that gamer "Sampras" pointed out.

Maybe now with two separate INP files to evaluate someone can determine what is causing this !!

Robert

PS - used Wolf101

27,210 and again it doesn't coincide with you hitting anything.

I see no similarity between the circumstances in the two examples...

Happened Again, Diff Circumstances

Post by RTM »

Hi Weehawk:

This is the third time now that I've been awarded a trio of extra ships for seemingly no apparent reason during gameplay...this time at the very beginning of the first "Suns" stage before I hit any of them.

I'll post this enclosure for info purposes but will not submit. At this point, looking at all three instances, there does not seem to be a common denominator.

It will be a shame if this happens to a great game in progress, especially one in the 30K-range, so I respectfully suggest that if this happens, perhaps a proviso should be considered that if the gamer willfully allows the three unearned ships to be destroyed that this should not invalidate the score. If this happened while a gamer was close to a WR...thus the suggestion.

Thanks !!

Maybe This One Will Help ?

Post by RTM »

Hi Sampras/all:

What the heck...it happened again so I'll post the 4th encounter of this as of yet unidentifiable glitch. Maybe with now four instances someone can piece the mystery together.

This one occurs during the battle with the first wave of "Brains" at approx the 10K mark, plus I also earn the hidden ship in the 5th asteroid belt following the first "Suns" stage.
